Assembly Elections Results 2026: The results of the assembly elections held in four states of the country – Assam, West Bengal, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and one union territory Puducherry have become clear. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has once again blossomed in Assam and Puducherry, while in West Bengal, BJP has broken all records and ousted the ruling Trinamool Congress from power for 15 years. Even CM Mamata Banerjee, who ruled Bengal for 15 years, has lost from her Bhawanipur seat. BJP candidate from Bhawanipur, Subhendu Adhikari has defeated Mamata Banerjee by a margin of 15,105 votes. The election results in Bengal have dealt a severe blow to the opposition parties.

When Bengal results came out, Rahul talked to Mamata Banerjee

Meanwhile, an exclusive news has come out quoting sources that Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi has spoken to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee after the results of the assembly elections were revealed. Rahul has told Mamata Banerjee that we will have to fight together against communalism. Secular forces will have to come together strongly on one platform. In response to Rahul Gandhi’s words, Trinamool Congress (TMC) chief Mamata Banerjee said that central agencies and the Election Commission have been misused.

Bengal Election Result 2026: This time there was a big turning point in the politics of West Bengal, when BJP registered a historic victory and reached the figure of 200 seats. This victory is not just a change of power, but a sign of a decisive change in the political trend that has been going on for a long time. BJP organized discontent against TMC’s 15-year rule and changed the electoral narrative by keeping issues like corruption, unemployment and governance at the center.

Also, the role of strong organization, booth level reach, aggressive central leadership and local faces like Suvendu Adhikari were important. The promises made to women, youth, farmers and the middle class garnered widespread support. With a balanced agenda of cultural identity and development, BJP gave concrete shape to ‘Parivartan’, which mobilized the voters in its favor. BJP registered a historic victory by crossing the century mark in West Bengal. This is not just a change of power, but the combined success of strategy, narrative and organization. Let us tell you the 8 big reasons which laid the foundation of this victory.

Strategy, faces and narrative – Political reasons for BJP’s victory in Bengal

BJP’s victory in West Bengal was the result of a political strategy prepared at many levels. The party aggressively raised issues related to unemployment, corruption and governance, keeping in mind the 15-year rule of TMC. The continuous attack on ‘cut money’ and extortion based political culture gave direction to the dissatisfaction among the common voters. In contrast, TMC’s focus remained on technical issues like Election Commission and voter list, which could not connect with public sentiment.

The rise of Suvendu Adhikari proved decisive in this election. The officer, who was once close to Mamata Banerjee, turned the election into a battle of prestige by giving a direct challenge in Bhawanipur. This strategy is reminiscent of Arvind Kejriwal’s 2015 model, where the top leadership was challenged in its stronghold.

Also, BJP effectively reversed the ‘outsider’ narrative. Under the leadership of Shamik Bhattacharya, the party gave the message of cultural acceptance. PM Modi’s visit to Thanthania Kalibari, where there is a tradition of non-vegetarian prasad, and the symbolic politics of adopting local food broke the perception that BJP is against Bengali identity. All these factors together turned the electoral equation in favor of BJP.

Governance agenda became a gamechanger, BJP got widespread support

The BJP’s victory in West Bengal was given a decisive boost by its governance-centric promises. In the manifesto, the party promised to bring a white paper on corruption and financial mismanagement, implement transparent recruitment and end the syndicate culture. Clear stand on Uniform Civil Code, strictness on illegal activities and smuggling and promise of speedy delivery of central government schemes were also prominent. The development of Greater Kolkata and the protection of religious freedom attracted both urban and social classes.

Like Delhi, here too a large section of government employees proved to be important in the electoral equation. According to sources, anti-incumbency, the feeling of being ‘deprived of rights’ and the demand for the Seventh Pay Commission influenced 20 to 50 lakh voters. This included central and state employees, pensioners and youth preparing for government jobs.

In this series, during the Parivartan Yatra, Amut Shah promised to implement the Seventh Pay Commission and fill the vacancies in government jobs within 45 days of coming to power. These concrete governance signals strengthened hopes for change.

Also read: West Bengal Election Results 2026: ‘India became Modimay, saffron storm arose in Bengal’, BJP shared the map of NDA ruled states.

Women’s vote became decisive, BJP’s package changed the equation

The comprehensive package announced for women emerged as a decisive factor in BJP’s victory in West Bengal. The party promised monthly assistance of Rs 3,000, Durga security squad, women police battalion and 33% reservation in jobs. Along with this, concrete measures like free education, transport facilities, ban on child marriage and legal aid to the victims created confidence among women. This package was not limited to just financial help, but seemed to give an overall message of security, respect and opportunity, which impressed the voters.

The initiative to advance women’s reservation at the national level also strengthened this narrative. According to party insiders, the message branding the opposition as ‘anti-women’ was effective at the grassroots level. Initial estimates indicate that the vote share of women is tilted in favor of BJP by about five percent. This change proved to be decisive in the election results as the number of women voters in the state was almost equal to that of men.

Focus on economy and agriculture, employment and MSP promises gave rise

The strong impact of promises related to economy, industry and agriculture was visible behind BJP’s victory in West Bengal. The party presented a roadmap for investment-friendly policies, development of industrial hubs like Singur and revival of the MSME sector. Along with modernization of tea, jute, dairy and fishery industries, a clear direction was given for employment generation by emphasizing on exports and logistics. It was also promised to boost the local economy by linking branding of Darjeeling tea and revival of tea gardens with tourism.

Also, the scheme of increasing the scope of MSP for farmers and making payments directly into their accounts gave the message of reducing the role of middlemen. Along with promises to strengthen storage, irrigation and cold storage infrastructure, there was also emphasis on expansion of fisheries and dairy sectors. These initiatives raised hopes of increasing rural incomes and creating sustainable employment opportunities, thereby strengthening support for the BJP among both urban and rural sections.

Confluence of youth, culture and inclusion – decisive environment created in favor of BJP

The promises related to youth, culture and inclusive development together created a strong base for BJP’s victory in West Bengal. The party created confidence among the youth by promising one crore jobs, ₹3,000 unemployment allowance and transparency in recruitment examinations. Steps like sports universities and coaching support for competitive exams signaled an expansion of opportunities, while a focus on the rural economy and agriculture-based employment engaged young voters.

Along with this, the agenda of social justice also remained equally effective. Promises like special support for SC/ST/OBC communities, financial inclusion and rehabilitation of refugees strengthened confidence among the marginalized sections. This approach was not limited to just welfare schemes, but was based on the balance of rights and opportunities.

On the cultural front, the Vande Mataram Museum, preservation of Bengali heritage and plans to connect festivals with the cultural circuit fostered a sense of identity and pride. Development related to tourism also gave it an economic dimension. The combination of these three aspects proved decisive in garnering widespread support in favor of BJP.

Also read: West Bengal Assembly Elections Result 2026: Saffron everywhere, yet Mamata Banerjee has kept her fort safe in these areas.

Focus on health and education, agenda of trust becomes decisive

Promises related to health and education played an important role in BJP’s victory in West Bengal. The party promised to implement Ayushman Bharat scheme, run free vaccination program and expand medical colleges. The emphasis on affordable and accessible health services created a sense of security in both rural and urban sections. The promise of better health infrastructure was directly linked to the everyday needs of the common people, which impressed voters.

On the education front, BJP promised to implement the New Education Policy (NEP), ensure transparency in teacher recruitment and establish institutes like IIT, IIM and AIIMS. Steps towards digital education and technology-based learning increased trust between students and parents. This agenda was not limited only to education reform, but was also related to expansion of employment and opportunities. This combined focus on health and education generated widespread support for the BJP.

Balance of infrastructure, tourism and environment – BJP’s winning development model

The balanced development agenda related to infrastructure, tourism and environment emerged as an important factor behind BJP’s victory in West Bengal. The party presented a clear roadmap to strengthen urban infrastructure with the expansion of roads, bridges and highways. The plan to boost investment and trade by developing airports and logistics networks tried to generate both industry and employment. Focusing especially on North Bengal, a message was given to remove regional imbalance, thereby instilling hope in the long neglected areas.

Tourism was also presented as an economic engine. Promises to promote heritage and eco-tourism, develop coastal and religious tourism circuits gave assurance of employment generation at the local level. This gave hope for new possibilities for small businesses, artisans and the service sector. This strategy of linking tourism with culture and economy created a positive environment among youth and local communities.

Along with this, efforts to link environmental protection with development were also clearly visible. Emphasis was laid on conservation of Sundarban region, protection of forests and climate resilience to deal with climate change. In the context of increasing threats and natural disasters in coastal areas, this promise appeared to be directly related to the safety and livelihood of the people.

Promise of strictness on infiltration became election turning point

In the West Bengal Assembly elections, BJP gave a clear political message by keeping the issues of security and infiltration at the center. The party promised strict action against illegal infiltration under ‘zero tolerance’ policy, NRC like system and strengthening border security. This issue was not limited to law and order only, but was also related to broader questions like identity, population balance and pressure on local resources.

Amidst the record voting and subsequent bumper lead of BJP, the party claims that concrete action will be initiated in this direction within 45 days of coming to power. This promise especially influenced voters in border areas and sensitive areas. This agenda of security and identity played an important role in creating an atmosphere in favor of BJP while intensifying electoral polarization.

A small Jhalmuri stall has come into limelight amid the election results in Jhargram, West Bengal. This shop was already in the news after Prime Minister Narendra Modi stopped by and ate Jhalmuri, but now after BJP’s victory, its story seems to be taking a new turn.

Stall owner Vikram Kumar Sao said that due to uncertainty about the election results, he had kept his shop closed in the morning. They kept waiting the whole day, observing the atmosphere. As soon as BJP’s victory was announced and the situation became clear, he reopened his shop in the evening.

For Vikram, it was not just a decision to open a shop, but also a kind of celebration. He says that the recognition his shop got after the Prime Minister’s visit has given a new height to his work. “Now people come from far and wide to taste Jhalmuri,” he says.

This incident shows how big political developments affect the lives of small businessmen and common people. This Jhalmuri stall of Jhargram has now become not just a local shop but a symbol of the election environment where politics and common life seem to be intertwined.

Bengal Election Result 2026: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has won a landslide victory in the West Bengal Assembly elections. BJP has won a landslide victory in Bengal, defeating Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) by 125 seats. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has accused the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) deployed for security for the Bengal elections on Monday (May 4, 2026) of assaulting her. While talking to ABP News, he said that you can see the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). He pushed and hit me.

What did Mamata Banerjee say about CAPF??

In fact, West Bengal Chief Minister and TMC candidate from Bhawanipur assembly seat Mamata Banerjee reached the Sakhawat Memorial Counting Hall of the assembly constituency on Monday (May 4, 2026). During this he said, ‘The central forces did not even allow me to go inside. This is biased. You can see CRPF. He pushed and hit me. Right in front of CRPF. They have deployed goons everywhere. I am a candidate, yet they did not allow me to enter.

He said, ‘BJP is a party of demons, it looted and cheated more than 100 seats. Election Commission is the commission of BJP. I also complained to CEO Manoj Aggarwal, but he is not doing anything. Do you think this is a victory? This is an immoral victory, not a moral victory. Whatever the Election Commission has done in collaboration with the Central Force, the Prime Minister and the Home Minister is completely illegal. It’s loot, loot and only loot. we will return.’

TMC accused the Election Commission

TMC made big allegations against the Election Commission regarding the results of Bengal elections. TMC said, the Election Commission has completely abandoned even the pretense of impartiality. After deliberately delaying and prolonging the counting process, it is now refusing to issue certificates even in constituencies where victory is clear – Diamond Harbour, Magrahat Purba, Magrahat West, Kulpi, Raidighi, Pattharpratima, Basanti, Bardhaman North and Sitai.

Earlier, a group of people reached West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s residence in Kalighat and raised slogans of ‘Jai Shri Ram’, after which security was increased there on the instructions of the Election Commission. The election official had said, ‘We received information that some people reached Mamata Banerjee’s Kalighat residence and the state secretariat and raised slogans, after which central forces have been deployed there. We do not want any kind of disturbance in law and order. He said, ‘We will not take any risk and strict action will be taken against anyone trying to disturb the peace.

TMC has alleged that its office has been vandalized. The Trinamool Congress claimed that hours after the election trends became clear, “miscreants” gathered outside its offices in Baruipur in South 24 Parganas, Tufanganj in Cooch Behar and Panihati in North 24 Parganas and vandalized them. A local Trinamool leader in Baruipur alleged that miscreants tore flex boards and banners at the party office and threw photographs of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Trinamool General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee on the ground.

Bengal Election Results 2026: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has achieved a historic victory in the West Bengal Assembly elections with an overwhelming majority. BJP has won 208 seats in the 294-seat Bengal Assembly, but the most shocking thing is that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who held power in West Bengal for 15 years and Trinamool Congress (TMC) candidate from Bhawanipur, failed to save her own seat. Leader of Opposition in Bengal Assembly and BJP candidate from Bhawanipur Assembly seat, Subhendu Adhikari has defeated Mamata Banerjee by a total margin of 15,105 votes.

In the 16th round of vote counting in Bengal, BJP candidate Shubhendu Adhikari took the lead by 554 votes against Mamata Banerjee in Bhawanipur assembly seat. At the same time, in the 19th round of counting on Monday (May 4, 2026) at 9:30 pm, Mamata Banerjee was seen lagging behind Shubhendu Adhikari by 15,001 votes. Whereas after the last 20th round of counting ended at 10 pm, Shubhendu Adhikari won by a margin of 15,105 votes.

BJP And TMC How many votes did the candidates get in Bhawanipur??

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is the Trinamool Congress (TMC) candidate from Bhawanipur Assembly seat of West Bengal, against whom Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Subhendu Adhikari is the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate. After 19 rounds of counting till 9:30 on May 4, BJP candidate Shubhendu Adhikari got a total of 73,390 votes and after the 20th round of counting, this figure increased to 73,917. While CM Mamata Banerjee got 58,812 votes. In such a situation, the total difference of votes between the two candidates was 15,105 votes.

Big shock to Mamata Banerjee after 15 years in power

This time, the results of the assembly elections held in West Bengal have proved to be a huge blow for Trinamool Congress (TMC) chief and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. TMC chief Mamata Banerjee became the Chief Minister of West Bengal for the first time in May 2011. After this, he made a hat-trick on the post of Chief Minister in Bengal by winning the assembly elections again in the year 2016 and 2021, that is, he successfully completed three terms as the CM of Bengal. However, this time’s election proved to be quite shocking for Mamata Banerjee.

Assembly Elections Results 2026: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has won three of the assembly elections held in five states of the country. BJP has retained its power in Assam and Puducherry, while in West Bengal, BJP has won a historic victory on 208 out of 294 assembly seats. Not only this, BJP candidate Shubhendu Adhikari has defeated TMC candidate and CM Mamata Banerjee from Bhawanipur seat by 15,105 votes. After BJP’s landslide victory in three states, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi on Monday (May 4, 2026) once again raised questions on the transparency of the electoral process.

Rahul Gandhi has BJP And allegations against the Election Commission

Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi shared a post on the social media platform X after the results of the assembly elections of the five states came out. Making serious allegations against the central ruling party BJP and the Election Commission, he said that elections have been stolen in Assam and West Bengal. Assam and West Bengal are such clear examples where BJP has stolen elections with the support of the Election Commission.

Assam and Bengal are clear cases of the election being stolen by the BJP with the support of the EC.

We agree with Mamata ji. More than 100 seats were stolen in Bengal.

We have seen this playbook before:
Madhya Pradesh.
Haryana.
Maharashtra.
Lok Sabha 2024 etc.

Election theft,…

—Rahul Gandhi (@RahulGandhi) May 4, 2026

He said, ‘We agree with Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. More than 100 seats have been stolen in West Bengal. We have seen this method earlier also in the Lok Sabha elections of Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Maharashtra, 2024. Election theft, institutional theft – what is the other option now?

What did Mamata Banerjee say about the Election Commission??

Earlier, TMC chief Mamat Banerjee, who had lost the election from Bhawanipur assembly seat of West Bengal, had also made serious allegations against the BJP and the Election Commission. He alleged that Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) looted more than 100 seats. Election Commission has become the commission of BJP. Do you think this is a victory? This is an immoral victory. Whatever the Election Commission did is completely illegal and loot.

Assam Assembly Election Results (Assam Election Result 2026 LIVE)

Voting was held on 9 April on all 126 assembly seats of Assam. Here BJP is trying to come to power for the third consecutive time under the leadership of Himanta Biswa Sarma.
The first reaction of Trinamool Congress (TMC) has come on the counting of votes for West Bengal Assembly elections. TMC candidate Shashi Panja has alleged that papers were snatched from her and thrown away at the counting centre. He asked whether we have brought bullets and guns, have we come here to riot.

Counting of votes is going on for 293 assembly seats of West Bengal on Monday (May 4, 2026) and initial trends show a tough fight between Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and TMC. On the other hand, both the parties are very eager about the counting of votes and are looking quite active. TMC candidate from Shyampukur assembly seat Shashi Panja also reached the counting centre.
