How is the story of the film?

This film talks about a very serious but often overlooked issue of today’s times, the increasing use of pesticides in agriculture and its impact on human health. Based on years of research, this film brings to light the dangers hidden behind the food reaching our plates and inspires the audience to think about an issue that affects the lives of crores of people.

The teaser of the film has already come into discussion due to its different and thought-provoking theme. However, due to lack of Censor Board approval, its release is still awaited.

On this whole matter, the film’s director Chetan DK said, ‘This is a difficult time for those films which dare to bring out uncomfortable truths. ‘Sutlej’ being removed from the OTT platform and now ‘The India Story’ waiting for CBFC approval, is very sad as a filmmaker. Our aim has never been to create controversy, but to convey an important issue to the people through cinema.

After many years of research and hard work, our only wish is that the film gets a chance to reach the audience. We hope that ‘The India Story’ will be approved soon, so that people can watch it and form their own opinion.

Presented by Zee Studios and MIG Production and Studios, this film is directed by Chettan DK. Story and makers of the film Sagar B. Shinde has done it. Its co-producers include Swati Vinayak Saidane, Anita Jadhav, Vinayak Saidane, Kalpesh Shah, Devyani Khorate and Prem Joshi.

‘The India Story: Slow Poison in Progress’ is scheduled to be released in theaters worldwide on July 24, 2026 in Hindi, Telugu and Tamil languages, however, its release will be only after getting the approval of the Censor Board.

Ahead of the release, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has approved this horror comedy film with some amendments. According to reports, the film makers had completed the certification process much ahead of time to avoid any problems.

According to the report of Bollywood Hungama, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has given 16+ rating to ‘Bhoot Bangla’. . This means that children under 16 years of age can now watch this film in theaters with their parents.

However, the board has also directed the makers to make some changes in the film. According to reports, an obscene word included in the film has been removed.

• The board has also asked to change some obscene words.
• The makers have also been ordered to remove an obscene word from the subtitle of the film.

• A warning note was also asked to be added for scenes related to religion and superstition.
• Altogether 63 scenes have been cut. Most of these cuts were short, only a second or a few seconds. The longest cut was of 1 minute 12 seconds, which was taken from a scene from the song ‘O Sundari’.
• 27 seconds have also been removed from the song ‘O Re O Saawariya’.

After all the changes, the duration of the film has been reduced by 10 minutes and 5 seconds. According to the censor certificate, the duration of the film is 174.57 minutes i.e., Bhoot Bangla is 2 hours 44 minutes and 52 seconds long.

Directed by Priyadarshan, this film stars Akshay Kumar, Paresh Rawal, Tabu, Vamika Gabbi, Mithila Palkar, Jissu Sengupta, Rajpal Yadav, Rajesh Sharma and Asrani in lead roles. This film will be released in theaters on April 17, 2026. Before that, its paid preview show has been organized on the night of 16th April.

And then comes the thing that really confuses me, the same film, within a month or two, gets released on OTT… without any mute… without any changes… exactly as it was meant to be. And the children watch it there… at home… sitting with the family… in which everything is heard completely.”

The actor concluded by saying, “So I’m just trying to understand—honestly, how smart is it to ‘half-mute’ something in a theater meant for adults, when the same thing plays at full volume at home a short time later? Maybe there’s a reason behind it that I don’t understand… or maybe, just maybe… we’re overthinking about the wrong things. Just trying to understand, the cinema’s Logic, CBFC’s logic… isn’t it?”

This postponement disappointed many fans who were eagerly waiting for the release of the film. However, this change has also created an open window in the theater calendar. This new available slot can reportedly prove to be a boon for the team of ‘Jana Nayagan’. Due to fewer major releases around that time, the film may perform better at the box office.

Amidst all this, a report on the Valai Pechu YouTube channel states that the Jan Nayagan team hopes that the newly changed Censor Board committee will complete the review of the film by March 17, 2026 and issue the certification. If the process goes as per plan then the film may come out earlier than expected. Because of this, it is being said that the makers are looking at an earlier release window instead of waiting till June.

Another factor that may decide the release of the film is the upcoming Tamil Nadu assembly elections. According to the report, if the censor approval is received on time, ‘Jana Nayagan’ may be released just a week after the Tamil Nadu assembly elections. Although the official dates of the elections have not been announced yet, voting is expected to take place in the third week of April 2026. • Firstly, the kissing scene has been reduced by 50%. That means the lip-lock scene has been shortened by 7 seconds.
• The visuals of the rape scene were also reduced by 50%, i.e. 20 seconds were reduced.
• Two scenes – one in which a woman is slapped and the other in which a woman is hit on the head, have also been reduced by 2 seconds.
• The visuals of the accused’s house being demolished with a bulldozer have been asked to be changed.
• Three dialogues were changed at three different places, while one word was asked to be muted. However, there is no information about them in the cut list.
• The makers were asked to add a disclaimer that the film is based on true events.
• The static text, which is probably a disclaimer, was asked to be increased by 2 minutes 3 seconds, as well as the voice over.
• Makers have been asked to submit the script as per the script dialogues and submit correct documents for the true incident shown in the film.
• Finally, a consent form has been submitted to CBFC to cast a younger artiste in the film.
