Tomato Price Hike: Tomato, which is used daily in the kitchen, has once again started affecting people’s budget. There is a continuous rise in its prices in many states of the country. Tomato crops have been greatly affected due to inclement weather, extreme heat and slow onset of monsoon. This is the reason why its effect is now visible in the market too, where the prices of tomatoes are continuously increasing.

Tomato price increases, kitchen worries

Due to less supply of tomatoes from the major producing states of the country, the prices have remained high. According to the report, retail prices of tomatoes in the markets have increased by 16% compared to last month and by 23% compared to the same period last year. In such a situation, if you also use tomatoes in vegetables daily, then in the coming days you may have to spend more on your kitchen budget than before.

Why are tomato prices increasing?

The biggest reason for the rising prices of tomatoes is considered to be bad weather. Tomatoes are likely to become expensive in the coming months, especially due to less cultivation in the summer season and bad weather in many major producing states. At the same time, the total production of tomatoes will increase compared to last year. In such a situation, now the question is arising in the minds of people whether the price of tomato will now cross Rs 100.

LPG News: Had this country not been there, there would have been shortage of gas cylinders in India today! UAE and Saudi Arabia left behind

Apart from this, tomato crop is highly dependent on the weather. It is often seen that if the crop in a big producing state is affected due to rain, heat or any other reason, then the supply in the market gets reduced. This is the reason why tomato prices often see a sharp rise during June to August and October to November.

Where is its impact?

Now the effect of expensive tomatoes is visible not only on the kitchen but also on the businessmen. Especially the hotel and restaurant business has now reduced the use of tomatoes, so that their pockets are not deeply affected.

High interest rate, KYC rules were also broken, RBI imposed a fine of Rs 63 lakh on this bank, is your account in it?

Product Price Hike: The recent increase in the prices of petrol, diesel and LPG cylinders has disrupted the budget of the common man of the country. People started crying about inflation. Meanwhile, in the last 15 days, the prices of some other things have also been increased, about which most of us probably have no news. Through this news, let us give you information about the things which have become expensive in the last 15 days:-

Prices of FMCG products increased

After an increase of 11% in raw material prices and 56% increase in packaging cost, the country’s leading FMCG companies like HUL, Dabur, Marico and Colgate have increased the prices of their products. Soaps of premium brands like Dove and Pears have become costlier by 4-5%. Detergent prices have also increased by 5-11%. In this era of inflation, oral care has also become difficult. From Colgate to Dabur, they have increased the prices of many of their toothpaste ranges.

Dairy products become expensive

A 1 liter packet of Amul Gold has become expensive in the last few days. Now its price has been increased to Rs 70 instead of Rs 68. Amul Taza has also increased from earlier Rs 55 to Rs 57. Mother Dairy’s full cream milk (1 litre) has increased from Rs 69 to Rs 72. At the same time, the price of Mother Dairy’s Buffalo Milk has also been directly increased by Rs 5 to Rs 80 per liter from the earlier Rs 75.

cooking also became expensive

The impact of increase in freight charges in the wholesale market has been such that at the retail level, shopkeepers have increased the prices of loose rice and pulses by Rs 5-7 per kg. Marico Company has increased the price of its flagship edible oil ‘Saffola’ by 6-11%.

Meanwhile, prices of vegetables have also increased. Tomatoes have fallen from Rs 30-40 per kg in the last 15 days to now reaching the level of Rs 60-70 per kg. Meanwhile, the prices of onion, ginger, green chilli and lemon have also increased. Due to increase in transport cost, prices of potatoes, brinjal, lady’s finger and many other vegetables have also been increased by Rs 5-10.

eating out also became expensive

Due to increase in the prices of commercial LPG cylinders, the rates of food items in restaurants and hotels have been increased. Its inflation rate has reached 5.75%. In an attempt to recover input costs, restaurant owners have increased their menu prices by 1.8% in the last one month.

WPI Data: Wholesale inflation in the country increased to 9.68 percent in May 2026, which was 8.26 percent in April 2026. The Ministry of Commerce and Industry released these figures on Monday – the special thing is that this time the Ministry has released WPI on the basis of new base year 2022-23 instead of the old base year 2011-12.

fuel biggest shock

The biggest jump in wholesale inflation came in the fuel and power sector. Inflation in fuel and power was 30.33 percent in May 2026, which was 24.89 percent in April. The prices of mineral oil i.e. petroleum products increased by 49.82 percent. Inflation of crude oil and natural gas stood at 61.51 percent. The turmoil in the global oil market due to the West Asia conflict is believed to be the main reason for this.

Primary Commodities and Manufacturing

Inflation in primary articles i.e. things related to agriculture and mining was 4.99 percent in May, which was 3.78 percent in April. Non-food articles became costlier by 9.49 percent. Inflation of manufactured products stood at 7.48 percent, which is more than 6.68 percent in April. Significant growth was seen in chemicals, basic metals and textiles.

food items

Inflation of WPI food index was 4.49 percent in May 2026, which was 3.11 percent in April. The reason for this was the increase in prices of edible oil, eggs, meat, fish and food products. However, the prices of pulses, potatoes and onions are still lower than a year ago.

New WPI series implemented from today

From today, the government has changed the base year of WPI from 2011-12 to 2022-23. The number of items in the new series has been increased from 697 to 957. Besides, Output Producer Price Index and Service Producer Price Index have also been released from today. Banking, insurance, telecom, railway and air passenger services have been included in the service sector. The next WPI report for June 2026 will come on July 14.

Gold Collection: Everyone knows how the situation is at the global level these days. Due to the ongoing war between Iran and the US, the economy of all the countries is currently shaky. Nothing can be said about what is going to happen in the coming days. Meanwhile, people are also keeping an eye on the activities of any other country. Like recently gold is being reserved in China, but why so? Let us know.

China is reserving gold
In fact, China’s central bank People’s Bank of China (PBoC) is increasing its gold reserves for the 19th consecutive month. The bank bought about 10 tons of gold in May 2026, increasing China’s total official gold reserve to 2,331.5 tons. Besides, China’s foreign exchange reserves have also increased to 3.44 trillion dollars. Which is 31.7 billion dollars more than in April. This is the highest level of foreign exchange reserves since November 2015. China’s foreign exchange reserves have continuously remained above 3.3 trillion dollars for the last 10 months.

Also read: Aviation News: Break on air travel! Why are domestic flights suddenly being stopped, what is the reason for reduction in flights?

Why are China’s foreign exchange reserves increasing?
According to China’s foreign exchange regulator SAFE, the strong US dollar and rising prices of global assets have helped in this. At the same time, China’s strong exports are also a major reason for the increase in foreign exchange reserves. China’s total foreign trade increased by about 15% to $2.39 trillion from January to April 2026.

However, on the other hand, there are signs of cooling in the demand for gold in China. In the last one month, about $1.48 billion has been withdrawn from 14 gold ETFs. Earlier the strategy of buying gold when it fell was popular among investors, but now due to fluctuations in prices, differences of opinion on this thinking are increasing.

Sharp decline in shares
Not only this, the shares of many Chinese gold companies listed in Hong Kong have also seen a sharp decline. At the same time, according to Shanghai Gold Exchange data, gold extraction declined to 63.5 tonnes in May, which is the lowest level since February 2020 and almost half that of March.

Also read: Gold Price: Amid rising prices in India, know in which countries the cheapest gold is available, why there is this difference.

Is the economic crisis going to increase?
Looking at this step of China, it seems that the times to come may be a little more difficult. Inflation is increasing due to the ongoing tension in the Middle East, but with this move of China, it seems that some economic crisis will also be seen in the coming time, for which preparations are being made from China’s side. Although there is no concrete information regarding this, but considering the circumstances, the same speculations are being made.

Future Saving Tips: In view of rising inflation, everyone tries to save for themselves and their family’s future. But do you know that if you change your small habits, you can save Rs 4 thousand to Rs 5 thousand every month. Meaning, your savings can range from Rs 48 thousand to Rs 60 thousand in a year.

1. Do not always eat outside food

Many people eat food from outside several times a week, due to which they spend thousands of rupees a month. Therefore reduce outside food. Homemade food is clean and better for health. If you improve this habit of yours then you can save a lot of money in a month.

Rent tension is over! Get your house under PM Awas Yojana, apply like this

2. Buy less stuff online

Many times people buy unnecessary items after seeing sales and discounts. If that item is not of your daily use then spending money at such a place is a waste. Therefore, do online shopping only thoughtfully.

3. Take only the necessary subscriptions

Many people take membership of OTT and other digital platforms. But they are not able to use it properly, due to which their money gets wasted. You can save money by reducing all these expenses.

4. Take advantage of cashback and rewards

Note, take advantage of cashback and rewards available on UPI, credit cards and digital wallets, but avoid spending extra just to get the offer.

Women at home should adopt these methods, they can save thousands of rupees in a year

5. Reduce petrol expenses

If you do not have to go far, then go on foot or by bicycle. Using public transport can reduce petrol and vehicle maintenance costs.

6. First save, then spend

Whenever you get salary, put some part of it in your savings account. This will save you a good amount of money every month. If you pay attention to all these things then you will easily save Rs 4-5 thousand per month and this money can reach Rs 48 thousand to Rs 60 thousand in a year. After that, you can prepare a big fund for the future by investing this money in SIP or any safe investment option.

School Bus Fare Hike: The brunt of inflation is being seen across the country. In the recent past, the prices of petrol and diesel have increased 4 times. Due to which it became a burden on the common man’s pocket. Inflation is also rapidly affecting the everyday life of a person. Meanwhile, school bus fares have been increased in an important state of the country. Due to which another burden has increased on the pocket of the common man.

In which state fare increased?
In fact, school bus operators in Maharashtra have decided to increase the fees of school buses by 15% from June 2026. School bus operators say that due to rising expenses and no relief from the government, they have to take this step. According to the School Bus Owners Association Maharashtra, they informed the state government, transport ministry and other concerned authorities about their problems several times. Memorandums and proposals were also submitted for this, but no action was taken on their demands.

Also read: Wedding SIP: Want to have a royal wedding without taking a loan? Start Wedding SIP today and create a big fund, understand the mathematics

Many options were also considered
The association says that before increasing the school bus fees, they considered many options and also gave suggestions so that there is no extra burden on the parents. However, despite this no response came from the government. For this reason, a decision had to be taken to increase the bus fees for the academic session of 2026-27.

Fuel is not the only reason
Bus operators have made it clear that the decision to increase bus fares has not been taken only because of the increase in diesel prices. Rather, they have taken it due to continuous increase in fuel, salary of drivers and other employees, vehicle maintenance, insurance, toll tax, permit fees and other expenses. Apart from this, the burden of e-challan and fines imposed under various rules has also increased.

Lifestyle Inflation: When salary increases, people’s first thought is to improve their lifestyle. For this, people buy a new phone, buy a big house, buy an expensive car, travel abroad and spend more and more. Gradually these hobbies become needs of people. This is called ‘lifestyle inflation’.

growing problem
In today’s time, this problem has increased further because luxury lifestyle is visible every day on social media. People have now started comparing themselves not with neighbours, but with influencers, celebrities and rich people. This makes spending expensively seem normal. Gradually, expensive mobiles, branded clothes, eating out, online shopping and luxury items become a part of everyday life. The problem is that once the expenditure increases, it is difficult to reduce it later. These expenses become a burden at the time of job loss or financial problems.

Also read: Inflation: After petrol and diesel, vegetables become costlier in Mumbai, Heatwave also has a big role in it, know how

Expenses may increase after 20 years
Such lifestyle can increase your expenses in the future. For example, suppose today your family’s expenses are Rs 50,000 per month. If inflation remains at an average of 6% per year, then after 20 years the same expenditure can be around Rs 1.6 lakh per month. This means that even if your lifestyle does not change, inflation still increases your expenses manifold. If lifestyle also becomes expensive every few years, then future financial needs will increase further.

For this reason, many people are not able to save money despite earning well. Their income increases, but their expenses increase even faster.

Avoid making these mistakes
If you also want to avoid the trap of lifestyle inflation, then you should avoid making some mistakes. As:

Increase in expenses every time salary increases

Buying a big house or expensive car just for show

Taking everything on EMI

not creating an emergency fund

keep postponing investment

SIP is necessary
The best way to fight inflation and lifestyle inflation is SIP (Systematic Investment Plan). With this, a bigger fund can be created gradually. If someone starts a SIP of Rs 10,000 per month at the age of 25 and increases it by 10% every year, then in 30 years a fund of up to Rs 8 crore can be created.

Also read: Siddaramaiah Net Worth: Siddaramaiah was the third richest Chief Minister of the country, ahead in wealth and also in debt, know his net worth.

the most important thing
It is not possible to stop inflation, but lifestyle inflation can be controlled. Earning more money should not be the real goal. The real goal is to secure the future, financial independence and a stress-free life. Good income improves your lifestyle, but disciplined investment makes your future secure.

Hotel Booking News: With the arrival of summer, people planning to visit Shimla, Manali and Mussoorie are facing a big setback in hotel booking this time. The room which was available for two to three thousand rupees in normal days, has now reached 8 to 12 thousand rupees. Hotel rates in Mussoorie, Shimla and Manali have suddenly increased manifold.

Rooms which were available for two to three thousand rupees on normal days, have now reached eight to twelve thousand rupees, while the fares in hotels and resorts located near snowfall view points are being said to be even higher.

What is the situation in Shimla?

The fare for budget hotels and hostels in Shimla generally ranges between Rs 500 to Rs 1500 per night. The cost of a mid-range hotel ranges from Rs 2500 to Rs 6000 per night, while in the peak season the fare for luxury hotels and heritage resorts goes above Rs 15000. That is, if you are planning to go to Shimla in May or June, then double your budget.

Edible Oil: Government’s big decision on edible oil, now the will of the companies will not prevail in this matter, relief to the customers

Condition of Mall Road in Manali

A couple staying for three nights on Mall Road has to spend Rs 9000 to Rs 12000 only on the hotel. That means three to four thousand rupees per night in peak season. At the same time, in the peak season in Manali, the rent of a luxury resort can go above Rs 10,000 per night.

More expensive on weekends

Hotel prices at popular hill stations between Friday and Sunday are 25 to 40 percent higher than Monday to Thursday. Meaning, if you are going on a weekend, you will have to shell out a lot for the same room in the same hotel.

Problem of crowd and jam is different

Like every year, this time too Shimla remains the first choice of tourists. Hotel rents have increased rapidly. There are also reports of kilometer long traffic jams in areas like Rohtang and Solang, which makes travel more difficult.

Travel Expense: The expenditure of Indians on foreign travel surprised everyone, shocking revelation in RBI data.

advance booking required

Those who want to spend less on hotels should go in July, August or September instead of May-June when prices are much lower. You can get better prices by booking at least two to three weeks in advance during peak season.

RBI on Rupee News: Rupee is among the worst performing major currencies this year. This year its price has fallen more than the dollar. A big statement from Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor Sanjay Malhotra has come out regarding the sharp fall in the rupee against the dollar. He has said that after the current fall, the rupee is no longer expensive but may become undervalued.

So far in the year 2026, the Indian Rupee has weakened by about 7% against the US Dollar. Even before the war between Iran and America, there was pressure on the rupee due to withdrawal of money by foreign investors, but due to increasing Middle East tension and rise in crude oil prices, the fall accelerated.

What is undervalued currency?

First of all, it should be noted that a currency is considered undervalued when its market transaction rate yield is weaker than the required rate as per the basic fundamentals. In simple words, if the rupee is trading below its fair or equilibrium value, economists can call it undervalued.

Explained: RBI handed over Rs 2.87 lakh crore to the government! How the Central Bank became a ‘silent financier’, how much will it cost in your pocket?

In an interview given to the media, RBI Governor Sanjay Malhotra said, after the recent fall of the rupee, this currency is not going to look very expensive. Rather, it could be a low value i.e. undervalued currency. These days the rupee has fallen significantly against the dollar and has crossed 90. It is the market forces that decide what the correct value of the rupee should be. RBI does not target any particular level.

Reason for falling rupee?

There are many reasons behind the weakening of the rupee. The biggest reason is the increasing demand for dollars. Foreign companies and investors are buying dollars. Besides, the prices of crude oil have increased in the international market. India imports most of its oil from abroad. In such a situation, the need for dollars increases and a fall in the rupee is inevitable.

RBI’s preparation amid inflation war

Sanjay Malhotra said, the objective of RBI is still to control inflation. He said that the Central Bank is currently maintaining its Neutral Policy Stance and is fully prepared to take action as per the situation if needed. According to the Governor, despite rising crude oil prices and global tensions, India’s economic condition remains strong.

ITR Filing: Attention taxpayers! Keep these important documents ready before filing income tax return

Challenge for RBI

Despite the weakening of the rupee, RBI’s policy is clear that there is no fixed level for the rupee. There is confidence in the depth of the market. The Governor said that the Indian banking system is now stronger than before. Forex reserves are at a good level. With this, now economists will have to accept that the rupee should be completely left on the market. Excessive interference may reduce the stock. At present the rupee is above 90 but in the long run it can be stable due to India’s strong fundamentals.

The effect of the current international situation and rising inflation is now clearly visible from the lives of common people to religious pilgrimages. This year, the pilgrims going on Haj pilgrimage have suffered a big financial blow. Due to America-Israel’s war with Iran, the cost of Haj pilgrimage has increased even more than before.

According to a report released by Semaphore on Wednesday (May 20), due to reduced capacity of flights across the Persian Gulf and disruption in supply routes, prices of travel packages have increased by three or four times even before the start of the journey. Let us tell you that in view of this annual journey to Mecca, the governments of many countries including Indonesia, Pakistan and Malaysia have started subsidy schemes to help in reducing the increased expenses for the pilgrims.

How much has the cost of Hajj increased?
Talking about the per capita expenditure for Haj pilgrimage in the last 3 years, the average per capita expenditure in 2023 was Rs 3.25 lakh, which increased to Rs 3.35 lakh in 2024. The average per capita expenditure in 2025 was Rs 3.40 lakh and now in the year 2026 it has increased to more than Rs 3.74 lakh.

The Ministry of Minority Affairs, as the nodal ministry for Haj in India, has made extensive arrangements for Haj pilgrims in coordination with the Haj Committee of India, other Central Ministries, State Governments and Saudi authorities. The aim of these efforts is to ensure smooth logistics arrangements and better facilities at the ground level for Haj pilgrims.

When will Hajj pilgrimage start?
Haj pilgrimage of 2026 from India is going to start from 18th April. The first batch of Haj pilgrims will leave for Saudi Arabia from many places across the country. The Modi government at the Center has also ensured insurance coverage of approximately Rs 6,25,000 for each Haj pilgrim, which will strengthen financial and health security during the Haj pilgrimage.
