School Bus Fare Hike: The brunt of inflation is being seen across the country. In the recent past, the prices of petrol and diesel have increased 4 times. Due to which it became a burden on the common man’s pocket. Inflation is also rapidly affecting the everyday life of a person. Meanwhile, school bus fares have been increased in an important state of the country. Due to which another burden has increased on the pocket of the common man.

In which state fare increased?
In fact, school bus operators in Maharashtra have decided to increase the fees of school buses by 15% from June 2026. School bus operators say that due to rising expenses and no relief from the government, they have to take this step. According to the School Bus Owners Association Maharashtra, they informed the state government, transport ministry and other concerned authorities about their problems several times. Memorandums and proposals were also submitted for this, but no action was taken on their demands.

Many options were also considered
The association says that before increasing the school bus fees, they considered many options and also gave suggestions so that there is no extra burden on the parents. However, despite this no response came from the government. For this reason, a decision had to be taken to increase the bus fees for the academic session of 2026-27.

Fuel is not the only reason
Bus operators have made it clear that the decision to increase bus fares has not been taken only because of the increase in diesel prices. Rather, they have taken it due to continuous increase in fuel, salary of drivers and other employees, vehicle maintenance, insurance, toll tax, permit fees and other expenses. Apart from this, the burden of e-challan and fines imposed under various rules has also increased.
