The ceasefire that has been going on for the last three weeks in West Asia has completely broken. LPG Cylinder Price News: A statement by Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding the price of domestic LPG cylinder has become a topic of discussion today. He gave this statement in Balotra, Rajasthan. PM Modi said that during the fuel crisis, the price of domestic LPG cylinder could have gone up to Rs 2,000, but the government’s efforts did not allow this to happen and gave great relief to the public from inflation.

While addressing the public meeting, PM Modi said, “Big countries are facing fuel shortage today. But India’s efforts have outweighed this crisis. India took right decisions at every level. PM Modi said, “About 60 percent of our LPG needs were imported from other countries and out of this, 90 percent of the LPG was coming from the Gulf countries and was coming through me and suddenly the war situation almost stopped that supply. You can imagine how big an outcry was going to happen in our country. But as soon as the crisis started, the government focused on the capacity of the refineries. Instead of producing gas for industrial purposes, the refineries were asked to produce cooking gas (LPG) and within seven days the production of LPG increased.

PM Modi said that earlier the production of 35,000 metric tons of LPG in the country increased to 54,000 metric tons during the crisis. Refineries which had never produced LPG before have also been configured for this. The entire load of LPG demand should not fall on LPG.” He further said, ”A campaign was launched to increase PNG connections i.e. piped LPG connections. In a very short time, India has connected more than 11 lakh houses with PNG gas connections.

PM Modi said that the government also reduced the excise duty on petrol by Rs 10 per liter and did not allow too much burden to fall on the public. According to this report, LPG consumption in India has decreased by 8% during the war. According to the data mentioned in the report, about 1.47 crore tonnes of LPG was consumed in India during January-June 2026, whereas it was 1.59 crore tonnes in the same period last year.

Why did LPG consumption decrease?
Regarding the reduction in LPG consumption, the government says that the demand for LPG has not decreased, rather the consumption has decreased due to the supply being affected. India imports about 60% of its total LPG requirement and about 90% of this LPG comes from the Gulf countries of the Middle East. It mostly reaches India through the Strait of Hormuz. During the war, supplies were disrupted due to this route being affected.

Know the consumption of May-June
The impact of supply disruption was most visible in May, when LPG consumption was around 21.3 lakh tonnes, which was the lowest level in the last five years. So in June, LPG consumption was about 17% less as compared to last year, but compared to May, it registered an increase of more than 2%.

Now supply is normal
Now the Petroleum Ministry has said that 100% supply of domestic LPG, Piped Natural Gas (PNG) and CNG has been restored across the country. The supply of commercial LPG, which was reduced to give priority to domestic consumers during the crisis, has also returned to the same place. Online gas booking has reached normal levels and there is no shortage of stock at any gas agency.

Amidst the ongoing tension in the Middle East and uncertainty over the Strait of Hormuz, good news has emerged for India. He said that a special control room has been set up to help Indian sailors, in which 450 calls and 1077 emails have been received in the last 72 hours. It was told by the ministry that till now the government has brought back more than 3639 Indian sailors safely, out of which 47 sailors have been brought back in the last 3 days.

Sujata Sharma, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, gave information about the fuel supply and energy situation in the country. He said, ‘The supply of petrol, diesel, natural gas and LPG in the country remains stable. Refineries are working at their full capacity and crude oil stock is also being maintained in sufficient quantity. The backlog of LPG has reduced to 3.1 days.

Shortage of LPG will go away

This is the first major gas (LNG) ship to come to India via Hormuz after the US-Iran peace agreement. The arrival of this consignment is likely to bring major relief to India’s natural gas supply. Sujata Sharma said, ‘A total of 9.94 lakh new customers have registered for PNG services.
