Two students topped

In NEET 2026, Aryan Gupta of Punjab and Panshul Bansal of Haryana have jointly become the toppers of the country. Both have secured 715 marks out of 720. NTA has also released the merit list and category wise cut off along with the result, on the basis of which the counseling process for 2026-27 will now proceed.

Exam was held again after paper leak

The original exam of NEET UG was held on May 3, 2026, but it was canceled after allegations of alleged paper leak case. After this, on June 21, 2026, the examination was conducted again at 5,440 centers across the country and 14 centers abroad, in which more than 20 lakh candidates had appeared.

NEET UG 2026 Final Answer Key: Big news has come for lakhs of students who dream of studying medicine. National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the final answer key of NEET UG 2026 exam. NTA made its official announcement through a post on social media platform ‘X’.

The agency wrote in its post, the final answer key of NEET (UG) 2026 has been released. To see it, go to the official portal. At the same time, a direct link has also been shared for the convenience of the students, by clicking on which students can directly reach the answer key.

Why is the final answer special?

This question comes in the mind of many people that what is the difference between provisional and final answer key? Actually, when the NEET exam ends, a few days later, NTA first releases the provisional answer key. This is the initial list of correct answers according to NTA.

Many times it happens that NTA has given some other answer to a question, but students feel that the correct answer should be something else. In such a situation, students are given a chance to challenge that answer. All the challenges and objections of the students are examined very carefully by the subject experts of NTA. If the students are found to be correct then the answers are changed. After all these corrections the final answer key is released.

How can I check the final answer key?

NTA has kept the method of viewing the answer key very simple. If you have also given this exam then you can download the PDF by following some easy steps given below.

• First of all, you have to open the internet in your mobile or computer and go to the official website of NTA NEET, exams.nta.ac.in/NEET.
• On the homepage of the website, you will see a new link or notice written NEET (UG) 2026 Final Answer Key.

• As soon as you click, the PDF file will open on your screen.
• In this file, correct answers to all the questions asked in the examination will be given.

How to guess the numbers from the answer key?

There is a fixed way of giving marks in NEET exam. For every correct answer you get 4 marks, while for every wrong answer one mark is deducted. This is called negative marking. You get zero marks for the questions which you have not answered. Multiply your correct answers by 4 and subtract the incorrect ones from the total marks. With this you will immediately know how many marks you can get.

When will the result of NEET UG 2026 come?

The release of the final answer key directly means that now the final result of NEET UG 2026 can be released at any time. Usually the result is declared one or two days after the answer key is released. After the result is declared, students will know their scorecard and All India Rank.

The wait of lakhs of students who appeared for NEET UG 2026 exam is finally over. National Testing Agency (NTA) has declared the result of Re-NEET 2026. Candidates can check their scorecard by visiting the official website neet.nta.nic.in. This time’s result is also special because NEET UG 2026 was in the news due to paper leak controversy. The earlier examination had to be cancelled, after which the examination was conducted again across the country on 21 June 2026. Now NTA has released the results before the scheduled deadline, due to which the counseling and admission process of medical colleges can start on time.

11.21 lakh candidates were successful

About 20 lakh candidates had appeared in the re-conducted examination. Of these, 11.21 lakh candidates have qualified the exam. This means that despite challenges like paper leaks, cancellation of exams and re-examination, a large number of students were successful.

Students from Punjab and Haryana topped

This year, Aryan Gupta of Punjab and Panshul Bansal of Haryana have become joint toppers. Both scored 715 marks out of 720.

• 19 candidates scored more than 700 marks
• 138 candidates scored more than 690 marks
• 1492 candidates scored 650 or more marks
• 10160 candidates scored more than 600 marks

Great performance by girls

This time, more than 58 percent of the successful candidates are women. The success percentage of girls was also better than that of men. 56.8 percent of women who took the exam qualified, while among men this figure was 55.1 percent.

Dominance of those taking the exam for the first time

Of the 138 candidates who scored more than 690 marks, more than 93 percent were first-time NEET takers. The age of almost all of them is between 17 to 19 years.

Successful candidates from every state

Candidates from all 36 states and union territories of the country have passed the examination. Maximum 1.7 lakh candidates from Uttar Pradesh were successful, while 43 candidates from Lakshadweep qualified.

The exam was conducted in 13 languages

Re-NEET 2026 was conducted in 13 languages. These include Hindi, English, Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Oriya, Punjabi, Assamese and Urdu.

Now what next?

Now the All India Quota counseling of MBBS and BDS will be conducted by the Medical Counseling Committee (MCC), while the counseling for state quota will be conducted by the respective state governments. NTA has advised the candidates to beware of fake calls, fraud in the name of getting seats, hoax of increasing scores and cyber fraudsters asking for money. The agency has said that students should take information only from official websites and immediately report any suspicious activity to NTA.

To pass the NEET exam, it is necessary to score not only marks but also minimum qualifying percentile. 50th percentile is prescribed for general (UR) and EWS category candidates, whereas 40th percentile is required for OBC, SC and ST category candidates. PwD candidates from general category will have to obtain 45th percentile, while PwD candidates from OBC, SC and ST category will have to obtain 40th percentile.

National Testing Agency i.e. NTA has released the provisional answer key of NEET UG 2026 exam. Candidates who appeared for the medical entrance examination on May 3, 2026, can now download the answer key by visiting the official website neet.nta.nic.in⁠. When was the examination and application held?
The application process for NEET UG 2026 started from 8 February 2026. Candidates were given the opportunity to apply till March 11. After this, the correction window was opened between March 12 and 14. The examination was conducted on May 3, 2026 at various examination centers across the country.

Whereas Physics was considered to be the toughest, where there were more calculation related questions and there was difficulty in time management. The level of Chemistry was between easy to medium. Experts say that the paper was balanced and it was easy to solve for students who prepared well.

Expert told the estimated cut off

Looking at the level of examination and the number of students, there are indications that the cut off will increase this time. According to experts, to get an MBBS seat in a government medical college for general category, around 620 to 650 marks may be required. Some experts put it between 620 to 635, which is considered a safe score. Whereas the cut off for OBC category is estimated to be around 590 to 630 marks. It is estimated to be between 400 to 520 marks for SC category and 420 to 500 marks for ST. Talking about the qualifying cut off, it is likely to be between 50 percentile i.e. 686 to 144 marks for General and EWS categories. For OBC, SC and ST categories, it can be between 40 percentile i.e. approximately 143 to 113 marks.

Why may the cut off increase?

The main reasons for the increase in cut off this year include the relatively easy nature of the paper and the participation of a large number of students. With the participation of more than 22 lakh students, the competition has become bigger than before. Apart from this, the overall scoring of the students is also expected to increase due to better preparation and coaching support.

Counseling and further process

Eligibility to participate in All India Quota Counseling will be decided on the basis of NEET UG score, which is organized by the Medical Counseling Committee. Apart from this, states also have different counseling processes, through this one can get admission in MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BHMS and other medical courses.
