Petrol-Diesel Rate Today on July 9: Crude oil prices rose by about 6% on Wednesday due to the renewed war between America and Iran. Brent crude futures rose $4.58, or 6.09%, to $78.66 a barrel, while US West Texas Intermediate crude rose $4.22, or 6%, to $74.65 a barrel. Both these benchmarks are trading at their highest levels since June 23. When will petrol and diesel become cheaper?

Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said on Thursday that there will be no increase in the prices of petrol and diesel in the country at present. He said that the government has handled the impact of increased global crude oil prices.

When asked about when the prices of petrol and diesel will come down, the Union Minister said that the effect of changes in international crude oil prices is not immediately visible in the retail fuel prices because their purchase, transportation and refining takes time. What did the Petroleum Minister say?

Speaking at an inter-ministerial briefing on recent developments in West Asia, Sujata Sharma, Joint Secretary (Marketing and Oil Refinery) in the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, said the government has implemented several effective measures to stabilize the energy scenario and maintain essential services.

He said, “As you know, India’s energy supply was also affected due to the West Asia crisis, but the Government of India has taken many effective steps, due to which 100 percent supply has been ensured by giving priority to domestic PNG and LPG consumers. Apart from this, CNG transportation has also been 100 percent ensured.”
