Salary Claim: This is the era of inflation, no one can deny this in any way. At present, inflation is increasing at the rate of doubling during the day and quadrupling at night. Increase in the prices of oil and gas, increase in fares, increase in interest rates, inflation is affecting the people in every way. This can also be gauged from the fact that people’s salaries now seem negligible. This is not what we say but an entrepreneur from Bengaluru.

Actually, a post is becoming increasingly viral on social media. In which the new salary of the new era is being talked about. It has been told in this post that nowadays the salary that people are getting in the metro city is much less than the actual expenditure. This post is from an entrepreneur living in Bengaluru, whose post has sparked a strong debate on social media.

Also read: Gold Price: This has not happened with gold in the last 18 years, which happened in June, the biggest monthly decline recorded since 2008.

What is the post?
Niket Raj Dwivedi, an entrepreneur living in Bengaluru, made a tweet a few days ago. In this tweet he wrote, ‘2.5 lakh every month is the new Rs 1 lakh’. Which directly means that if your salary is Rs 2.5 lakh then it is equal to Rs 1 lakh as of today. Not only this, he also wrote the names of two cities for this, ‘especially for cities like Mumbai and Bengaluru’. See the post here:

2.5 Lac per month is the new 1 Lac

— Niket Raj Dwivedi (@niketrajdwivedi) June 24, 2026

Debate broke out on social media
There has been a strong debate on social media regarding this tweet by Niket. While many users agree with his tweet, many people are also seen against it. Commenting on this, a user wrote, ‘It is really impressive how far many people are from reality.’ So another user wrote, ‘Really, now 28 lakh LPA should be considered normal.’ So another user wrote, ‘Salary of Rs 1 lakh per month should be considered as Rs 20 thousand.’

Similar comments are coming from people on this post. It is clear that there is a period of inflation, even the goods used in daily life are becoming very expensive. In such a situation, Niket’s point cannot be completely rejected. Although Niket is only talking about metro cities. In small towns, the salary of many people is Rs 40-50 thousand or less, in which they have to survive under any circumstances.

Payroll System: Anupan Mittal, founder of Shaadi.com, has appealed to companies to rethink the way they pay their employees. He says that the traditional British era system of paying salary in the last or next month now needs to be changed. In his opinion, employees should get salary twice a month.

What did the LinkedIn post say?

Let us tell you that Anupam Mittal posted on LinkedIn. In this he said that many companies provide benefits like free food, work from home and long holidays to attract employees, but often they ignore the most basic need of the employees, timely salary. He wrote that most companies pay salaries on or before the 7th, but sometimes this date gets pushed further due to weekends, due to which employees have to face delays.

UPI boomed in May, transactions crossed Rs 30 lakh crore, which cities dominated?

The company had made changes

Anupam Mittal told that Shaadi.com had changed its payroll system a few years ago and now the salary is given at the end of the same month instead of the next month. According to Mittal, this is not a convenience, but a part of common understanding. He further said that delay in salary is not just a matter of a few days, but it has a direct impact on the everyday life of the employees. Due to this, problems like EMI bounce, not being able to pay the rent on time and financial stress can arise. He says that cash flow is what really gives respect and security.

Suggestion of paying salary twice a month

Anupam Mittal suggested that companies should consider paying salaries to their employees twice a month i.e. on 15th and 30th. He believes that in today’s era of modern technology, this process is not difficult and it can provide financial stability to the employees. This will reduce the debt pressure and the spending capacity will also improve.

Petrol and diesel became cheaper by 22 rupees in Pakistan, people heaved a sigh of relief when the government reduced the prices.

According to Mittal, if companies adopt this system, the financial pressure on employees will reduce and the pace of expenditure in the entire economy can increase. He says that this step can be beneficial for the employees, companies and the economy of the country.

After working throughout the year, employed people eagerly wait for the month of April. If you work, then you must be aware that there is an expectation of increment and appraisal this month, but if your appraisal has not been done this time and still your salary has come in your bank account more than in March, then there is no need to panic.

This may not be due to any technical error, but may be a change related to tax rules and investment declaration. If we talk about salary, this year there is an increase of Rs 500 to Rs 2000 in the in-hand salary of many employees.

Also read: If a fire breaks out in a flat, who will pay the compensation? Insurance company, RWA or builder… know your rights now

Why did your salary increase?

There are 3 big reasons behind increasing your salary like…

1. Impact of the new tax regime

If you have chosen the New Tax Regime for the financial year 2026-27, then it can have a direct impact on your take home salary. The government has made some changes in the tax slab and standard deduction, due to which TDS deduction may reduce and the salary in hand increases.

2. Filling investment declaration

April marks the beginning of the new financial year. During this time, employees fill their investment declaration on the company portal. Get involved in this.

80C investment

HRA

insurance

Other tax saving options

If you have filed the correct declaration on time, then the company deducts tax accordingly. This can increase your net salary.

3. Changes in PF and other deductions

What happens sometimes is that even small changes in salary structure or PF deduction affect the net pay.
Suppose if your gross salary is Rs 50 thousand and TDS deduction is reduced by Rs 500, then your in-hand salary will appear increased by the same amount.

Know how to check?

If you want to know why your salary has increased, then you can compare your salary slip of March 2026 and April 2026. With this you will know the reason behind the increased salary.

Especially look at these things like…

TDS deduction

PF deduction

tax regime

on the net

What do experts say?

If there is a huge difference in your salary then definitely talk to your HR or Payroll team. Make sure you choose the right tax regime, so that you don’t have to pay unexpected higher taxes at the end of the year.

Rather, it is being taken forward at the grassroots level also. Commission teams are visiting different states. Also, direct talks are going on with employee organizations and unions. Due to which efforts are being made to understand their demands and suggestions properly.

This entire process will affect about 45 lakh central government employees and 60 lakh pensioners. For this reason, the Commission is moving rapidly towards preparing the report keeping every aspect in mind. Let us know about this.

Meetings being held in different cities

The 8th Pay Commission has recently held talks with the employee organizations of Uttarakhand. Now the schedule of further meetings has also been decided. The meeting is going to be held in Delhi between 28th and 30th April. In May, the Commission team will also meet other organizations of Pune and Maharashtra and collect their suggestions and feedback.

Demand for change in basic salary and allowances

Pay Commission is considering not only basic salary but also TA, HRA and other facilities. Employees believe that improvement in these allowances is necessary.

Along with this, demand for increase in basic pay has also been made by many employee organizations. In which it has been proposed to increase the minimum salary from Rs 18,000 to approximately Rs 69,000.

Demand to increase fitment factor

Under the 8th Pay Commission, the drafting committee of the Joint Forum of Employees Organizations (NC-JCM) has demanded to increase the fitment factor. So that there can be a big change in the salary structure.

According to the organization, the fitment factor should be increased to 3.833. If the central government accepts these suggestions, there will be a huge increase in the salaries of the employees.

8th Pay Commission Latest Update: These days, discussions regarding the 8th Pay Commission seem to be increasing rapidly in the entire country. Different employee organizations are demanding salary, allowances and other major changes from the central government.

Many suggestions have also been given to the government by the organizations. If these proposals are approved by the government, it could prove to be the biggest change in the salary structure of government employees in the last few years. Let us know about this.

Demand for major changes in salary structure

‘Pragatisheel Shikshak Nyay Manch’ (PSNM), an organization of government teachers of Union Territories, has demanded changes in the entire system of salaries and allowances.

The organization has said in its proposal that the minimum basic salary of Level 1 employees should be increased from Rs 50,000 to Rs 60,000. This is much more than the basic salary of Rs 18,000 available under the current 7th Pay Commission.

Emphasis on fitment factor and increment

The union has suggested increasing the fitment factor from the current 2.57 to between 2.62 to 3.83. Also, a demand has been made to increase the annual increment from 3 percent to about 6-7 percent.

The organization says that these changes are necessary in view of inflation. These changes will increase the income of employees.

Demand to increase salary 4 times

1. Bharatiya Immunity Mazdoor Sangh (BPMS) has demanded to increase the minimum basic pay to around Rs 72,000. This is 4 times more than the current level.

2. Along with this, there is also a demand to increase the fitment factor to 4. It has also been suggested to increase the maximum salary for top level posts to Rs 10 lakh. If the central government accepts these suggestions, we may see a significant increase in the salaries of central employees.

DA Hike Implemented by Govt: 60% dearness allowance of central employees has come into effect from today. The Central Government has issued its orders. This dearness allowance will be considered applicable from January 1, 2026. Two days ago, the government had announced a two percent increase in the dearness allowance of central employees.

Earlier dearness allowance was 58 percent. Central employees were demanding to increase it for a long time. However, this time the increase in dearness allowance has been announced very late. This increase will have a direct impact on the salaries of the employees. For example, if the basic salary of an employee is Rs 50,000, then he will get approximately Rs 1000 extra every month.

Employees will get relief
This increase is considered to provide some relief to the income of government employees amid rising inflation. This 2 percent increase is part of the government’s routine biennial. Through which the government protects the real income of the employees and does not allow the impact of rising inflation to become a burden on them. Revised Dearness Allowance (DA) will be paid along with arrears from January 2026, which will benefit lakhs of central government employees and pensioners.

It is written in the memorandum…
In this memorandum issued by the Finance Ministry, it is clearly written that Dearness Allowance (DA) will remain a separate component of wages and it will not be considered a part of salary within the scope of fundamental rules. This difference is important to calculate different allowances and retirement benefits.

The revised DA rates will be applicable not only to civilian employees of the Central Government, but also to those drawing salaries from Defense Services estimates. However, separate orders for armed forces personnel and railway employees are expected to be issued by the Defense Ministry and Railway Ministry respectively.

DA Hike Latest News: The Government of India has given great news to the central employees today. According to sources, the Union Cabinet has approved a two percent increase in dearness allowance for central employees, pensioners and pensioners. After this decision, DA of employees will now increase.

Total dearness allowance increased to 60 percent

After this decision of the government, now the total dearness allowance of the employees has increased from 58 percent to 60 percent. About 50 lakh government employees and more than 65 lakh pensioners will get the direct benefit of this increase, due to which their monthly salary and pension will increase.

How much will the salary increase now?

Let us tell you that if the basic pay of a central employee is Rs 36 thousand 500, then at the rate of 60 percent his DA will now be Rs 21 thousand 900. The big thing is that now the employees will also get arrears from January. The new rule will be considered effective from January 1, 2026. This means that the employees will not only get the increased salary for the next month, but the outstanding arrears of the last three months i.e. January, February and March will also be given in lump sum.

Employees were waiting for a long time

This step of the Central Government has brought great relief to those employees who were waiting for this announcement for some time and were demanding to increase their income amidst rising inflation. This increase has come at a time when employee organizations are demanding major changes in the pay structure under the 8th Pay Commission.

Why is dearness allowance increased?

Due to rising inflation, the government increases dearness allowance twice a year in January and July to cover the expenses of government employees. It is calculated on the basis of data (CPI-IW) released by the Labor Ministry, which shows how much the prices of essential commodities have increased. In simple words, as the prices rise in the market, the government increases this allowance to maintain the value of your salary.

8th Pay commission: Central government employees and pensioners are currently waiting for the announcement of their eighth pay scale. It is expected that the 8th Pay Commission will bring big relief for them. If this is implemented soon, we may see a significant increase in the ‘take-home’ salary of the employees. Here we explain to you a little mathematics related to this.

How much can the salary increase?
According to experts, the fitment factor can be increased from 2.57 to 3.5 or more in the 8th Pay Commission. The increase in fitment factor has a direct impact on the basic salary. For example, if the minimum basic salary of an employee is Rs 18 thousand, then depending on the new fitment factor it can increase to around Rs 25 thousand to Rs 30 thousand. This will significantly increase the total salary you take home.

‘Take-home’ salary formula
Revised Basic Pay= Basic Pay*Fitment Factor

Impact on take-home salary

With increase in basic salary, dearness allowance (DA) will also increase.
House rent allowance (HRA) and other allowances will also increase.
Due to increase in total gross salary, in-hand salary will be higher.

However, in some cases, the increase in PF and other deductions may initially make a slight difference in the take-home, but the overall benefit will be more.

What is included in ‘take-home’ salary?
Your monthly salary includes not only basic but also many other allowances. Let us tell.

Basic Pay: about 51.5%
Dearness Allowance (DA): about 30.9%
HRA: about 15.4%
Transport Allowance: about 2.2%

Let us tell you that DA is reset initially, so even if there is an increase in basic salary in your first pay slip under the new commission, there will not be much increase.

Let us tell you that this time there has been a delay in the announcement of the 8th pay scale. Due to which there is a lot of commotion among the employees. The announcement which is due by the end of March has not been made yet. In such a situation, there is a dilemma among the working class. However, it is expected that it will be announced soon.
