Rajesh Exports Share: The shares of Rajesh Exports, a company involved in gold and jewelery business, are still in bad shape. Today, on Wednesday, June 10, during the trading in the stock market, the shares of Rajesh Exports hit a lower circuit of 5% for the 5th consecutive session.

Amidst heavy selling pressure, the share price has now fallen to the level of Rs 84.66. After the serious allegations made by the market regulator SEBI, the shares of Rajesh Exports are continuously falling. Due to this, billions of rupees of investors have been lost.

Shares are continuously falling

In the last one week, the shares of Rajesh Exports have fallen by about 22.6%. It has fallen by more than 30% in one month, 55% in 6 months and almost 58% in the last one year.

This trend of fall in shares became even faster when the news of the Central Government’s Ministry of Heavy Industries expelling the company from the ongoing PLI scheme for Advanced Chemistry Cell Battery Storage started emerging. Since the ACC battery business is one of the important future projects of the company, if the decision is taken that the company is considered ineligible for the scheme, it will be no less than a shock for it.

Where did things start going wrong?

In fact, recently, SEBI in its 109-page interim order has alleged that the company overstated its revenue by Rs 15.15 lakh crore between the financial years 2020-21 and 2024-25, which in reality was about 99.8% of the total revenue of the company’s subsidiaries. SEBI accused the company of suspicious transactions between related parties including fund diversion. After this, SEBI banned the company’s promoter and chairman Rajesh Mehta from trading on the stock market with immediate effect and directed to conduct a forensic audit of the company’s accounts.

How many crores of LIC are stuck?

The stake of foreign institutional investors (FIIs) in the company’s shares has been decreasing for three consecutive years, from 17.6% in March 2023 to about 14.26% by March 2026. Since the market cap of Rajesh Export is Rs 3090 crore and the total stake of LIC in the company is 10.80%. According to this, the investment of more than Rs 300 crore of Life Insurance Corporation of India is stuck in the company.

Rajesh Mehta… This name was a brand in the gold market of India. Rajesh Exports was seen as the world’s largest gold refinery and a strong company in the gold business. But in the beginning of June 2026, when SEBI made its investigation report public, this ‘golden brand’ became the face of such a financial fraud. This shook the entire market.

SEBI alleges that the company exaggerated its revenue to Rs 15 lakh crore. This amount is more than the economy of many states. The most surprising thing in this game was that while on one hand most of the mutual funds had distanced themselves from this company in the last ten years, on the other hand, the country’s largest insurance company LIC increased its stake five times to 10.8%. Let us understand in the explainer what is this scam, how did SEBI expose it and what is the role of LIC in this?

What is Rajesh Exports and why was this company so famous?

Rajesh Exports was founded in 1989 by Rajesh Mehta. This company used to call itself a global leader in the business of gold refining, jewelery manufacturing and export. This Bengaluru-based company claimed that it refines about 500 tonnes of gold every year, which is a large part of India’s total gold demand. This company was also a big name in the stock market and at one time its market cap was in thousands of crores of rupees. But for the last few years, questions started being raised about the company’s business. Its share price had fallen from a high of Rs 900 in 2022 to below Rs 30 by 2026. The secret behind this fall in the shares was exposed by SEBI in its investigation.

How SEBI exposed Rs 15 lakh crore financial ‘scam’?

SEBI’s investigation exposed the business model of this company. Investigation found that Rajesh Exports had woven a complex web of fake sales and purchases to artificially increase its revenue. According to SEBI, the company had reported revenue of Rs 3.41 lakh crore in the financial year 2023-24, but in reality 98% of it was on paper.

The company used to buy and sell the same goods again and again, thereby inflating the revenue figures. In this game, many shell companies and related parties were used, through which only bills were prepared without any actual movement of goods.

SEBI caught this entire fraud by examining the financial records of the last ten years. The agency found that between 2014-15 and 2023-24, the company showed a total fake revenue of about Rs 15 lakh crore. SEBI said in its order that the company deliberately misled investors and tried to artificially increase the share price. As a result, SEBI banned top officials of the company including Rajesh Mehta from the stock market and imposed heavy fines.

Why have mutual funds kept their distance from Rajesh Exports in the last 10 years?

This is an interesting aspect of this scam. According to an Indian Express report, most domestic mutual funds avoided investing in Rajesh Exports in the last decade. The reason for this was the continuous questions being raised on the business model of the company. The company showed huge revenues, but its profits were very modest. This glitch was a warning signal for experienced fund managers.

Additionally, the large gap between the company’s share price and its actual performance also raised doubts. The mutual fund industry collectively shunned this company, which shows their wisdom. Although some small funds and portfolio management services had invested in it, overall the bulk of institutional investment stayed away from it.

Why did its stake in LIC increase five times to 10.8%?

While mutual funds were running away from the company, LIC, the country’s largest institutional investor, played the exact opposite bet. According to SEBI report, LIC continuously increased its stake in the last few years and it increased almost five times to 10.8%. The question is, why did LIC do this while other institutional investors were not even touching this share? Many possible reasons emerge for this.

First, LIC often takes a long-term investment perspective. He hoped that the company’s core business of gold refining would eventually turn profitable.

Second, LIC may not have thoroughly investigated the company’s financial claims and may have made the same mistake as many retail investors. Relying on big names and big revenue figures.

Third, some experts also raise questions whether LIC’s investment decisions were based entirely on professional analysis or whether some other pressure was at work. However, LIC has not yet issued any public statement on this matter, but after the huge fall of the stock, LIC has now suffered a huge loss.

What is the wider impact of this scam and what next?

This scam of Rajesh Exports is important in many ways:

This shows that there are still major shortcomings in the system of corporate governance and audit in India. If a company can show fake revenue of Rs 15 lakh crore for a decade, then questions are raised on the auditors and regulators also.

This scam is a big lesson for thousands of small investors who buy shares just relying on big names and shiny figures.

Such a huge investment by a government organization like LIC in this company raises the question whether adequate due diligence was done to safeguard public money.

Experts believe that SEBI’s investigation will continue in the future and it is possible that ED and CBI may also enter this matter. Criminal cases may be filed against Rajesh Mehta and his associates. The shareholders of the company may not get anything now, but this whole episode is a big warning for the financial markets of India. Unless the quality of monitoring and audit improves, such ‘paper’ empires will continue to flourish.

UPI Payment: In today’s digital time, everyone likes to make UPI payment. Since its introduction, the hassle of carrying cash has ended to a great extent. We do many small and big transactions every day, but have you ever wondered whether it is right to link UPI everywhere to the bank account in which you have all your earnings as well as savings? On this matter, experts have advised that having a separate bank account for UPI payments is a necessary and wise step.

Keep a separate account for UPI

The biggest advantage of keeping a separate account for UPI is security. Because when you link your main account to every app and QR code, the risk of getting scammed increases. If your UPI PIN gets leaked or you become a victim of a phishing scam, your entire bank balance can be emptied. Therefore, the only wise thing is to be safe. Whereas if you keep a secondary account and keep limited money in it, then the loss will also be limited.

Budget and bank statement will be clear

If you make every transaction from the main payment account, then the bank statement gets filled with many small transactions, due to which it becomes difficult to track the expenses and understand the statement at the time of tax filing. By keeping a separate UPI account, you can transfer a fixed amount at the beginning of the month. With this you will have a clear idea of how much you spent and where.

Will be protected from technical problems

Many times payment fails due to bank server being down. If you have two different bank accounts, then you can take the help of the other account and make payment very easily and also you can use any small private bank or digital bank for this.

How to start?

It is quite easy to open another account for UPI.

You can open Zero Balance Account in any bank.

At the same time, many banks also provide the facility of opening accounts at home through Video KYC.

PM Yojana Loan Fraud: These days a new scam is becoming increasingly viral on social media platforms. It is being claimed on social media platforms like YouTube, Instagram that under the PM Loan Scheme, people are getting a loan of Rs 3 lakh on Aadhar card. Are you also falling victim to such claims? So do not make such a mistake at all, because this is a scam in which you can also get trapped.

What is the whole matter?
Actually, in this scam it is being claimed that under any ‘Pradhan Mantri Loan Scheme’, a loan of up to Rs 3 lakh can be obtained only through Aadhar card. In many cases, people are also told that to get the loan, they will have to deposit a small amount first. This amount will be taken from you as processing fee or insurance charge. However, the government’s fact-checking agency has clarified that there is no such official plan. That means the claim of instant loan of Rs 3 lakh on Aadhar card is completely fake.

How to stay safe?

Do not trust any ‘instant loan’ offer.

Do not share Aadhaar or bank details without checking.

Get information about any government scheme only from the official website.

If someone asks for money first, then understand that it could be a scam.

Avoid downloading any unknown link or app.

Let us tell you that loan is definitely available under the Government’s Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana, but it is not given directly on the Aadhaar card. For this one has to apply through bank or NBFC and claim the eligibility. For which you have to tell about your documents and credit profile, which is checked by the officials, only after that you get this loan.

Food Delivery Fraud: Ordering food online has become a normal part of today’s life. Place an order on the app and the food is delivered to your doorstep within minutes. But taking advantage of this, cyber thugs are now adopting a new method. In recent times, many such cases have come to light where people were cheated of money in the name of food delivery. Sometimes fake calls are made and it is said that the order will be cancelled.

Sometimes, in the name of refund, OTP or bank details are asked. Many times fraudsters send links posing as delivery agents and by clicking on them, your phone or bank account may be in danger. That is, the app through which you order food. On the same pretext, fraudsters are trying to access your money. Therefore, it is very important to keep these things in mind.

This is how fraud works in the name of food delivery

Cyber thugs first call or message people regarding food delivery. Many times they pretend to be the customer care of a delivery app and say that your order has been canceled and you will get a refund. After this they send a link or ask for OTP. As soon as you open the link or share the OTP. Money can be withdrawn from your bank account.

In some cases, fraudsters also create fake apps or websites that look like the original. People enter their details there and become victims of scams. Many times an excuse is made by posing as a delivery agent to reach home and update the payment. Therefore, trusting any unknown call, link or app can prove costly.

Also read: You are going to buy AC as the heat increases, check these things otherwise you will suffer huge losses.

Pay special attention to these things

To avoid such fraud, it is important to remember some basic things. First of all, if you get a call related to any food delivery, do not trust it immediately. Always check the order information from inside the app. If someone sends a link for refund or payment update. So avoid clicking on it. Do not share OTP, bank details or card number under any circumstances.

If someone is asking for information by calling himself customer care. So first contact only the official number given in the app. Along with this, avoid downloading unknown apps in the phone. A little caution can save you from big losses.

Also read: Are you going to buy a new induction stove due to shortage of LPG cylinder? Check these important things first

QR Code Scam: Nowadays people in the country are using everything online. Earlier people used to carry cash in their pockets for payment. But now the atmosphere has completely changed. Now people make payment through online system. There are many UPI apps available for this. People mostly make payments through QR code. QR code payment made transactions very easy, fast and convenient.

If seen, UPI system has become a safe means of payment today. But some fraudsters find ways to commit fraud by taking advantage of small loopholes in the system or by misleading innocent people. One such scam is becoming quite viral on social media these days. In which an auto driver scammed a person. Know how you can avoid this scam.

Instead of Rs 1500, Rs 15,000 were withdrawn from the account.

A video viral on social media showed how instead of Rs 1500, Rs 15000 can be deducted from the account. If care is not taken while making payment. Content creator Sanket Prakash Khandagle explained this method easily through a fictional story so that people should be careful.

In this video it is told how a person scans the QR code of an autowala. Which contains Rs 1500. But in that, Rs 15,000 is deducted from the person’s account. Normally when the user himself enters the amount manually on the mobile. Then this kind of scam does not happen. But in a hurry, not looking at the phone screen properly and confirming the payment without checking, the money gets deducted.

How does a scam happen?

In this viral video, it can be clearly seen how a person gets down from the auto and pays Rs 150, but Rs 15000 is deducted from his account. Its complete method is explained in the video. In this, the person scans the QR code of the auto driver. Actually QR is not for payment.

Rather the payment request is approved. Let us tell you that all QRs are not just for taking money. There are also some QRs which send requests for payment. If any request like collect, pay or approve is ever seen on the screen. So one should not confirm without reading.

Protect yourself in these ways

This viral video has been shared on Instagram with an account named @spiktec_. It is told in it that if ever a vegetable seller, auto driver or delivery boy asks you to make quick payment. So always after scanning the QR, check the screen to see if the approval request is written on it. Because if you click on it and enter the UPI PIN. So that request gets accepted. And just as Rs 15,000 were deducted instead of Rs 1,500 in the video, similarly it can also be deducted from your account.

Voicemail Scam: A new method of fraud is spreading rapidly across the country in which cyber criminals are sending fake voicemails in the name of RBI to trap people. PIB Fact Check has confirmed that this is a complete fraud whose real purpose is to grab people’s banking information.

How is the web of deception being spread?

In this fake voicemail it is claimed that some suspicious transactions have taken place on your credit card and if immediate action is not taken then your bank account may be closed. This message is designed to create panic, so that people hastily give their personal information like card number, PIN or OTP to criminals.

PIB Fact Check has clearly stated that RBI never gives any warning through voicemail nor asks customers to verify details on any unknown call.

How does RBI Voicemail Scam work?

Have you received a voicemail, allegedly from the Reserve Bank of India (@RBI), claiming that your bank account will be blocked as your credit card has been involved in fraudulent activity#PIBFactCheck

If you suspect any central… pic.twitter.com/REn8ZUFxlH

— PIB Fact Check (@PIBFactCheck) November 19, 2025

Fraudsters often spoof the number of a bank or government agency, making the call appear genuine. As soon as the person trusts the message and returns the call or enters information, criminals force him to give sensitive data in the name of verification. In many cases people lose their entire savings within minutes.

How to avoid this new voicemail scam?

The most important way to stay safe from this scam is to not trust any unknown call or voicemail, even if it is in the name of RBI, bank or government. RBI and banks never ask for personal information through phone or message.

If any message mentions closure, blocking or emergency of your account, first confirm the information by calling the official number of your bank directly. Keep your bank alerts active and always keep your mobile number updated so that security messages are received on time.

How to report PIB Fact Check?

To prevent misinformation and fraud, PIB has appealed to citizens to report any suspicious messages to their official channel. You can get verified by sending photo, video or text on these mediums.

WhatsApp: +91 8799711259

Email: factcheck@pib.gov.in

PIB team will check the message and tell you the correct facts so that you can stay safe from any online fraud.
