During this time, winds blew from the south-west direction at a speed of 15-20 km/hour, whose speed sometimes reached 46 km/hour.

Today it will be partly cloudy

According to IMD, today on Wednesday (June 17), the maximum temperature of the city is likely to be between 33-35 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature is likely to be between 25-27 degrees Celsius. IMD estimates that the sky will be partly cloudy today. The department has predicted very light to light rain, thunder and lightning and thunderstorm in the morning or afternoon. During this period, strong winds will blow at a speed of 20-30 km/hr, which can go up to 40 km/hr with gusts.

New western disturbance from June 18

IMD has said that a new western disturbance may affect North-West India from June 18. The department has predicted a rise of 3-4 degrees Celsius in the maximum temperature during the next 5 days, but after that there will be no significant change. During this period, the minimum temperature may increase by 2-4 degrees Celsius, but after that there is little possibility of any significant change.

IMD estimates that the maximum temperature may be around 35-37 degrees Celsius on Thursday, 36-38 degrees Celsius on Friday and 37-39 degrees Celsius between June 20 and 22.
Due to the effect of western disturbance and moisture coming from the Arabian Sea, there was light rain in most parts of Madhya Pradesh late Saturday night and people got relief from the heat wave situation. An official of the Meteorological Department gave this information on Sunday. The Meteorological Department has predicted light rain, thunderstorms and strong winds in many areas of the state on Sunday also. Since May 25, people have got relief from this change in the weather during ‘Nautapa’, a nine-day period considered to be the most severe period of summer in northern and central India.

H.S., duty officer of the Bhopal office of the India Meteorological Department (IMD). Pandey told ‘PTI-Bhasha’ that except Sagar division, there is a possibility of light to moderate rain, thunder and lightning in most parts of the state. He said that due to the influence of western disturbance and moisture coming from the Arabian Sea, there has been a change in the weather, due to which the state has come out of the grip of heat wave. The maximum temperature has also been recorded one to three degrees Celsius below normal.

Stray dog terror in MP’s Shivpuri, 60 people including municipality in-charge’s wife bitten

According to the official, strong winds at a speed of 50 to 60 kilometers per hour are expected in Khandwa, Khargone, Burhanpur, Dhar, Alirajpur, Jhabua, Seoni, Mandla, Balaghat, Chhindwara, Betul and Dindori districts. Pandey said that this change in the weather started after Saturday midnight, when due to strong winds blowing at a speed of 60 to 70 kilometers per hour in Bhopal, tree branches broke and power supply was disrupted in many parts of the state capital. According to IMD, the highest wind speed of 94 kilometers per hour was recorded in Sehore district after midnight. After this, light rain also occurred in different parts of the state.

The desert areas of Sudan, Chad, Iran or the Middle East should be named in the list of 100 hottest cities in the world. But the surprising truth is that out of this entire list, 97 cities are from India alone. This is not a joke, but the terrible truth of May 2026 which has scorched the entire country. In cities like Balangir, Sasaram, Banda and Varanasi the mercury has crossed 48 degrees Celsius. The situation is so bad that so far more than 37 people have lost their lives due to heatwave in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

This story is not just about fire raining from the sky, this is the story of the last battle of our body, which it is fighting against the scorching heat. Let us understand what temperature our body can withstand in this record-breaking heat, how heat kills our lives and how we can save ourselves and our loved ones from this disaster…

India occupies the world’s hottest list: 97 cities, a story

The picture presented by the live data of AQI.in on the afternoon of 22 May 2026 was scary. Of the 100 hottest cities in the world, 97 were in India. Balangir (Odisha) and Sasaram (Bihar) recorded temperatures of 48 degrees Celsius, while Varanasi (Uttar Pradesh) stood third with 47 degrees Celsius. Humidity levels in these cities were between 6 to 8 percent, putting the conditions in the ‘extreme hot’ category.

The thing to note is that the remaining three cities in this list were also from India’s neighboring country Nepal – Dhangadhi, Nepalganj and Lumbini Sanskritik. Meaning the Indian subcontinent was experiencing the maximum heat in the entire world. This is not the first time. Last week on May 19, the situation was even more serious, when all the 100 hottest cities in the world were in India. Auraiya, Banda and Etawah (all three in Uttar Pradesh) were on top with 46 degrees Celsius.

After all, how much heat can the human body withstand?

This question might have come to your mind too. The answer lies not just in the number written on the thermometer, but in a special term – ‘wet-bulb temperature’.

Wet-bulb temperature is actually a dangerous combination of temperature and humidity that completely shuts down our body’s ability to cool itself. Usually our body keeps itself cool by evaporating sweat. But when there is too much moisture in the air, sweat does not dry, body heat cannot escape and the body temperature continues to rise.

It was long believed that a wet-bulb temperature of 35 °C (equivalent to 35 °C at 100% humidity or 46 °C at 50% humidity) was the limit beyond which the human body could no longer cool itself. But a shocking research by Penn State University broke this myth. In their PSU HEAT project, when young and healthy people were exposed to different temperatures and humidity, it was found that the body’s ability to remain cool begins to decline much earlier at 35 degrees Celsius.

According to new research, this dangerous limit starts only at 31 degree Celsius wet-bulb temperature.

Understand it like this- If the humidity is 100% then a normal temperature of 31 degrees Celsius and if the humidity is 60% then even a normal temperature of 38 degrees Celsius can be fatal. ‘Our research shows that the dangerous combination of heat and humidity can become fatal more quickly than scientists previously thought.’

How does death occur due to heat?

The biggest cause of death due to heat is heatstroke, that is, the body temperature increases so much that the organs stop functioning. But did you know that heat kills in three different ways?

Heatstroke: When brain and organs all fail. When the internal temperature of the body crosses 40 degrees Celsius, heatstroke occurs. Professor Oli J of the University of Sydney explains that during this time the body diverts the blood stream towards the skin to cool down. The result is that blood and oxygen stops reaching the intestines and stomach. outcome? The toxins present in the intestines start leaking into the blood. ‘It starts a chain reaction. Blood clots start forming in the entire body, organs start failing one after the other and ultimately death occurs.

Deadly pressure on the heart: Neil Gandhi, director of emergency medicine at Houston Methodist Hospital, says that during the summer he often sees patients whose body temperature reaches above 104 or 105 degrees Fahrenheit. ‘If it increases by just a few degrees, there is a very high risk of death of such a patient.’ To keep the body cool in summer, the heart has to work many times harder than normal. According to Professor JK, ‘You are making your heart do much more work than usual. For someone who already has heart disease, it’s like trying to run with a bad hamstring. Something will definitely break.

Dehydration: So much water is lost from the body through sweat that it puts tremendous pressure on the kidneys. Professor Renee Salas of Harvard University says, ‘Dehydration can turn into shock, due to which blood, oxygen and nutrients stop reaching the organs. This can cause seizures and death. Apart from this, heat also has a direct effect on the brain. Due to this the person becomes confused, loses the power to think and understand and may become unconscious.

So far, about 37-40 deaths have been recorded due to heatwave across India in government records. But this figure is much less than the actual figure. According to a report in The Times of India, many deaths that occur due to heat (such as heart attacks) are never counted as heatwave deaths. Al Jazeera’s report shows that most of the deaths due to heat in the country are not recorded. The actual number of deaths is much higher than this.

So how to avoid heat death?

The government has issued clear guidelines to protect yourself from this scorching heat:

Drink adequate amount of water, even if you do not feel thirsty.

Wear light colored loose fitting cotton clothes.

While going out, cover your head with cloth, scarf, cap or umbrella.

Take home drinks like ORS, buttermilk, lemonade, salty lassi and coconut water.

Eat things like raw onion, raw mango, salt and cumin, which protect you from heat stroke.

Apart from this, do not forget to:

Do not go out between 12 noon and 3 pm.

Avoid tea, coffee, alcohol and cold drinks. They reduce body water rapidly.

Do not eat high protein, fried, spicy and stale food.

Do not leave children or pets alone in a parked vehicle.

Do not go out barefoot.

When will we get relief from the heat?

According to IMD, there is no sign of relief at present. The heatwave will continue in most parts of the country till May 28. There is an orange alert of ‘severe heatwave’ for Delhi between May 25 and 27, in which the temperature can go up to 44 to 46 degrees Celsius. Red alert has been issued for Eastern Uttar Pradesh. IMD says that after May 28, due to strong storm and rain in many areas, the temperature may drop by 2 to 5 degrees Celsius.

These days the weather patterns are constantly changing in Delhi. Sometimes there is strong sunshine, sometimes there are clouds and rain, the reason for this fluctuation is being considered to be Western Disturbance. According to the Meteorological Department, the coming days will also be full of similar changes. Talking about the last 24 hours, the weather in the capital and surrounding areas was quite pleasant. It remained cloudy throughout the day and there was light rain, due to which the temperature dropped and people got relief from the heat.

The weather is expected to be clear today (April 1). There may be strong sunshine during the day, although light clouds will also be visible at times. There is no possibility of rain or storm today.

Temperature will increase today and tomorrow

According to India Meteorological Department (IMD), the temperature will increase on 1 and 2 April. The maximum temperature can reach around 37 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature will be around 20-21 degrees. That means people will start feeling slight heat. But on 3rd and 4th April the weather will change once again.

There is a possibility of thunderstorm and rain with strong winds in Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurugram and Faridabad. Due to this the temperature will drop and the maximum temperature can reach around 30 degrees.

It may rain in many parts of the country till April 10

Meteorologists say that the effect of Western Disturbance will still persist, especially in the hilly areas. Due to this, there may be intermittent rain in many parts of the country till April 10. At the same time, if we talk about pollution, the air quality in Delhi remains in the moderate category. AQI 171 has been recorded. March 2026 was the most polluted in the last four years, with an average AQI of 181.

Now a lot of change has started to be seen in the weather of Delhi-NCR. Which has also affected the air quality. At present, the chances of rain in Delhi have also increased. There will be light clouds in the sky in the capital within a day or two.

If we talk about the weather in Delhi-NCR on Tuesday (March 17), then there may be some relief in the morning, but there is a possibility of increase in heat during the day. 63 humidity can be seen in the weather of Delhi on Tuesday. The wind speed is expected to be 6 kilometers per hour. There are very less chances of rain in Delhi today. The weather department has said that there is only a 10 percent chance of rain.

What will be the temperature of Delhi?

The minimum temperature in Delhi on Tuesday will be 17 degrees. The maximum temperature can reach up to 32 degrees. Due to change in weather, significant improvement in air quality has been recorded. Due to cool winds and clear weather, the Air Quality Index (AQI) has reached better levels in most areas of Delhi, Noida and Ghaziabad.

The weather department gave these indications

However, the Meteorological Department has indicated that the weather patterns may change once again from March 19. According to the forecast, it will be partly cloudy that day and there may be rain or thundershowers at one or two places. There is a possibility of partly cloudy sky and light rain on March 20, while on March 21, it may be generally cloudy with light rain.

Due to this change in weather, the level of pollution has reduced and the air has become cleaner. Experts say that if rains and strong winds continue, then people of NCR can get the benefit of clean air in the coming days also.

The weather is gradually changing in many states of North India. Due to continuous strong sunlight during the day, there is relief from severe cold, although slight cold is still felt in the morning and evening. According to the Meteorological Department, the weather will remain normal in most of the plains in the coming days, but the weather may worsen again in the hilly areas.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has said that due to the effect of western disturbance, there may be rain and snowfall in the western Himalayan areas on 10-11 February. During this period, there is also a possibility of strong winds blowing at a speed of 30 to 40 kilometers per hour. The weather is expected to be worse in Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, while no major change is expected in the rest of the country.

Meteorological Department’s estimate

The Meteorological Department has warned of dense fog in the morning in Eastern Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Assam, Meghalaya and Coastal Andhra Pradesh till February 10. Due to fog, rail, road and air traffic may be affected. People have been advised to be cautious in the morning.

Delhi weather

There will be light clouds in the sky in Delhi-NCR on February 10 and dense fog may occur at night. The maximum temperature is likely to be around 24 degrees and the minimum temperature is likely to be 11 degrees. The weather will be clear on 11th and 12th February, but light fog may persist in the morning.

Uttar Pradesh and Bihar

In Uttar Pradesh, the effect of cold has reduced due to sunshine during the day. There may be dense fog in the morning and night in eastern UP till 10 February. The cold is gradually decreasing in Bihar also. The temperature is expected to increase in the coming days.

condition of hill states

There may be rain and snowfall in Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir between February 9 and 11. There is a possibility of heavy snowfall and strong winds in some areas. The temperature here may remain around or below zero. Overall, the weather will be comfortable in the plains, while cold and snowfall in the mountains can increase problems.

The month of January is about to end, but the cold and bad weather in the country does not seem to be stopping yet. Releasing the latest forecast, the Indian Meteorological Department has said that on January 27, the weather may take a sudden turn in many parts of the country. According to the Meteorological Department, rain, strong winds and storms are expected in a total of 13 states including Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Jammu and Kashmir, Tamil Nadu. The Meteorological Department says that due to the activation of Western Disturbance, the weather patterns are going to change completely, especially in North India, due to which the temperature may drop and cold may increase.

An active western disturbance is moving towards Delhi-NCR, due to which the Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert. There is a possibility of cloudy sky throughout the day in the capital and surrounding areas. Light rain and thundershowers may be accompanied by strong winds at a speed of 30 to 40 kilometers per hour. According to the Meteorological Department, there are chances of rain from afternoon till night. The minimum temperature is likely to be around 9 degrees Celsius and the maximum temperature is likely to be around 19 degrees Celsius. Due to clouds and rain, cold can be felt even during the day.

Fear of rain and hailstorm in Uttar Pradesh

The weather is expected to be more active in Uttar Pradesh on 27 and 28 January. According to the Meteorological Department, there may be moderate to heavy rain in many parts of the state. There is also a possibility of hailstorm and thunderstorm at some places in western Uttar Pradesh. The effect of rain and strong winds can be seen from Meerut, Ghaziabad, Shamli to Ayodhya and Sultanpur. There is a possibility of a drop in the temperature after the rain, due to which the maximum temperature in areas like Noida, Ghaziabad and Meerut may remain around 19 degrees Celsius.

Western disturbance became active again in Rajasthan

A new western disturbance is also becoming active in Rajasthan, due to which the weather may worsen in many parts of the state. There is a possibility of light to moderate rain in Bikaner, Jaipur, Ajmer, Kota and Bharatpur divisions. According to the Meteorological Department, lightning may occur in some areas and strong winds may blow at a speed of 30 to 40 kilometers per hour. There is also a possibility of hailstorm at some places. However, IMD says that after January 27, there is hope of gradual relief from cold wave in the state.

Alert of rain and snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir

The Meteorological Department has also issued a warning for Jammu and Kashmir. There may be light rain or snowfall in many areas on January 27 and 28. There is a danger of avalanche in high altitude areas. The weather may remain partly bad for the next two days, while after that the weather is likely to remain dry. The administration has advised people to avoid going to avalanche prone areas.

Weather will change in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry also

Changes in weather can also be seen in the South Indian states of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of light rain here. The effect of easterly winds blowing from Comorin Sea towards Kerala coast will be visible in these areas. It may rain at some places during the afternoon and evening. Rain activities may increase on January 28, although the weather is expected to remain dry again between January 28 and 31.

India Meteorological Department (IMD) said that severe cold is expected to continue for the next few days. At some places in Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Uttarakhand, the temperature has been recorded below zero degrees, while in Haryana and Punjab the temperature remains near freezing.
The temperature will fall further in UP
The mercury will fall further in Uttar Pradesh from Monday (January 12) due to the effect of cold westerly winds. There are chances of increasing melting and cold wave conditions in western UP. Most areas of the state got relief due to sunshine on Sunday. In the last 2 days, an increase of 3 to 5 degrees has been recorded in the maximum and minimum temperatures due to the effect of sunlight during the day.

Also, there is a possibility of 3 to 5 degree drop in day and night mercury in the next three days. There is a possibility of light to moderate fog in 23 districts.

Atul Singh, senior meteorologist of Zonal Meteorological Science Centre, Lucknow, said that after the effect of the disturbance ends in UP from Monday, the wind direction will again become north westerly. Cold wave like conditions may arise in western UP. There will be some relief due to sunshine during the day, but it may remain bitterly cold till night. The effect of fog will be visible in the morning in the Terai areas.

The weather patterns seem to be changing rapidly across the country. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued warnings for many states regarding the coming days. While on one hand there is forecast of rain with strong winds in the states of South India, on the other hand large parts of North India will be in the grip of cold wave, dense fog and cold days.

According to IMD, due to the effect of deep depression formed in the Bay of Bengal, the weather will remain active in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka and Kerala for the next 48 hours. Light to moderate rain may occur with strong winds in many areas. The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for many districts of Tamil Nadu from 11 to 13 January. There is a possibility of heavy rain in many areas including Chennai, Puducherry, Nagapattinam, Tiruvallur, Kanchipuram, Thanjavur.

Cold wave and fog wreak havoc in North India

Winter has once again gained momentum in North India. There is a possibility of cold wave and dense to very dense fog in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana and Madhya Pradesh from 11 to 15 January. The Meteorological Department said that cold day-like conditions will prevail in many states, due to which cold will be felt throughout the day. There is a possibility of frost falling in the morning and visibility being very low, due to which road, rail and air traffic may be affected.

Delhi-NCR hit by pollution along with cold

Along with winter, air pollution also remains at a serious level in Delhi-NCR. Despite light rain, there was no significant improvement in the Air Quality Index (AQI). According to CPCB data, areas like Anand Vihar, Nehru Nagar, Chandni Chowk, RK Puram and Punjabi Bagh recorded AQI beyond 400, which falls in the ‘severe’ category. According to IMD, the minimum temperature may fall by 5 degrees Celsius in the coming days.

Cold day alert in Bihar, UP and Rajasthan

In Bihar, yellow alert has been issued in about 15 districts and orange alert in 16 districts. Life will be affected due to cold wave throughout the day in many districts including Patna, Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga, Sitamarhi, Madhubani. There is an alert of dense fog and severe cold in about 30 districts of Uttar Pradesh. The minimum temperature in many parts of Rajasthan can reach 3 to 4 degrees Celsius.

Cold increased due to snowfall in hilly states

Due to continuous snowfall in the high altitude areas of Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, the temperature has gone below zero. Areas like Srinagar, Gulmarg, Pahalgam and Lahaul-Spiti are experiencing severe cold. There is a possibility of frost falling in many areas and increasing slippage on the roads.

traffic will be affected

Due to dense fog and bad weather, many trains are likely to be delayed and some may be cancelled. Air services may also be affected. The Meteorological Department has advised people to exercise caution and avoid non-essential travel.
