Due to the effect of western disturbance and moisture coming from the Arabian Sea, there was light rain in most parts of Madhya Pradesh late Saturday night and people got relief from the heat wave situation. An official of the Meteorological Department gave this information on Sunday. The Meteorological Department has predicted light rain, thunderstorms and strong winds in many areas of the state on Sunday also. Since May 25, people have got relief from this change in the weather during ‘Nautapa’, a nine-day period considered to be the most severe period of summer in northern and central India.

Pandey told ‘PTI-Bhasha’ that except Sagar division, there is a possibility of light to moderate rain, thunder and lightning in most parts of the state. He said that due to the influence of western disturbance and moisture coming from the Arabian Sea, there has been a change in the weather, due to which the state has come out of the grip of heat wave. The maximum temperature has also been recorded one to three degrees Celsius below normal.

According to the official, strong winds at a speed of 50 to 60 kilometers per hour are expected in Khandwa, Khargone, Burhanpur, Dhar, Alirajpur, Jhabua, Seoni, Mandla, Balaghat, Chhindwara, Betul and Dindori districts. Pandey said that this change in the weather started after Saturday midnight, when due to strong winds blowing at a speed of 60 to 70 kilometers per hour in Bhopal, tree branches broke and power supply was disrupted in many parts of the state capital. According to IMD, the highest wind speed of 94 kilometers per hour was recorded in Sehore district after midnight. After this, light rain also occurred in different parts of the state.
