On the Britain tour, the Indian cricket team could register only one win in 10 matches. This only win came in the first ODI match. When the turn of the third ODI match came, the Indian bowlers made the highest ODI score against England at Lord’s. In response to the target of 388, the Indian team could score 360 runs. After this poor performance, veteran cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar has directly targeted the strategies of the team management.
Sanjay Manjrekar said that without Jasprit Bumrah, the Indian bowling attack becomes breathless. Therefore, by dropping senior bowlers like Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Siraj, Team India’s bowling has been exposed.
He said, “Making a team for the 2027 World Cup does not mean that you keep ignoring match-winners. Without Bumrah, this bowling attack lacks strength. Ignoring senior bowlers like Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Siraj has exposed the shortcomings of Indian bowling.”
Sanjay Manjrekar came in support of Shami-Siraj and said that Siraj had destroyed England’s batting on the English pitches. On the other hand, Mohammed Shami has been continuously proving his ability in domestic cricket. Taking a sharp dig at the management, the former cricketer said that when the backup bowlers are being beaten, it is not wise to drop the senior players in the name of giving a chance to the young bowlers.
On one side is Mohammed Shami, who has not played any match for the Indian team after Champions Trophy 2025. Mohammad Siraj was last seen playing in the Test against Afghanistan, but after the match against USA in the T20 World Cup 2026, he too has not been seen playing white ball cricket for Team India.
