South Korea Divorce: The divorce of South Korean businessman and SK Group chairman Chae Tae-won is once again in the headlines. The Seoul High Court has reduced the amount of the previously decided divorce settlement, but despite this, he will have to give about 944 billion won (about 940 million US dollars), i.e. about 8,200 crores (about 82 billion) in Indian currency, to his ex-wife Ro Soh-yong. The court acknowledged that Chae Tae-won’s business holdings and wealth increased significantly during the marriage. The court also acknowledged that Roh Soh-yong made a significant contribution to this success by taking care of her family, raising children and fulfilling social responsibilities. On the basis of this, it was decided to give a large part of the marital property to the businessman.
