What did BJP candidate Rathindranath Bose tell?
BJP candidate Rathindranath Bose said regarding the incident that this morning we had to go to a rural area to hold a meeting with our party workers. Meanwhile, we suddenly got information that some outside miscreants had torn our party flags in that area. They took down the flags and set them on fire. There was a huge crowd gathered there but most of them dispersed. Still some people stayed there and we held a meeting with them.
The BJP candidate further said that while returning, we saw some crazy Trinamool goons moving towards us on the road. Armed with bamboo sticks bearing Trinamool flags, they attacked. Two-three of our vehicles somehow managed to escape from there, then they targeted a particular vehicle and broke all its windows. They also hit two-three of our comrades with bamboo sticks, some of whom were hit on the head, while others were hit on the shoulders.
What did Trinamool Congress leader Abdul Jaleel say?
Taking a dig at the police, he said that not a single policeman was visible anywhere. We had already clearly informed the police that we were going to that place. Meanwhile, Trinamool Congress leader Abdul Jalil Ahmed said that these allegations are baseless.
He said that in view of the arbitrary deletion of names from voter lists in villages and rural areas in the SIR process, such protests are certain to happen wherever one goes. Our party has no role in this.
