Ukraine has also rubbed salt into Russia’s wound after the major attack on Moscow’s oil refinery. Ukraine on Thursday played the video of the attack on this oil refinery at the ongoing international defense exhibition Eurosatory-2026 (15-19 June) in Paris, the capital of France. Through this video, Ukraine demonstrated its drone capabilities to the world. On Thursday, Ukraine carried out the biggest ever drone attack on the Russian capital Moscow, in which more than 200 drones attacked the Russian oil refinery.
In the last two months, Ukraine had targeted Russia’s 15th oil refinery (and oil terminal). In the video of the attack, it can be seen that a fire broke out in the Russian refinery after the attack. One person has died in the Ukrainian attack while more than 15 people have been injured. Ukraine has attacked the storage tank of an oil refinery in the Kapotanya district of Moscow. The attack was so fierce that black smoke spread over Moscow and the entire area was surrounded by flames. In the video that surfaced, it can be seen that there was a massive explosion in the fuel storage tank, due to which its roof was blown into the air and caught fire. Due to the explosion, the round metal lid of the tank jumped high into the air and the entire place was surrounded by flames and thick black smoke.

Ukraine attacked this oil refinery near the Kremlin at a time when there was an informal meeting in the G-7 between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and US President Donald Trump. Trump and Zelenksy were seen sitting on a chair and talking alone. President Vladimir Putin was not present in the capital at the time of the Ukrainian attack. Putin was in Kazan, 700 kilometers from Moscow, on Thursday, where he was hosting leaders of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations. After Ukraine’s attack, President Zelensky has said that if Russian President Putin does not want to end this war and wants to continue it, then we will not sit silent, we will respond. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has talked about taking revenge from Ukraine.
Panic in Moscow
After the attack on the oil refinery, flights were stopped at all major airports in Moscow. Due to Ukraine attack, about 550 flights from both Moscow airports were canceled or affected. According to the Russian Defense Ministry, about 1000 Ukrainian drones were intercepted on Thursday. Russia says that the drones coming towards Moscow were shot down by its air defense system on the way, but some drones managed to reach the refinery. The fire broke out when their debris fell on the refinery. After the attack on the oil refinery, Zelensky gave a sharp warning saying that ‘if Ukraine burns, your Moscow will also burn. This attack has been done to bring Russian President Putin to the negotiating table. The time has come to end the aggression and end this war.
