Hosted by Pakistan, talks were held in Islamabad on Saturday (April 11, 2026) on the issue of ending the war and restoring peace between America, Israel and Iran. However, even after 21 hours of talks and serious discussions, the meeting remained inconclusive and the Islamabad talks failed. However, Pakistan is extremely disappointed with the results that emerged after these talks, but Pakistani foreign policy expert Qamar Cheema said that whatever may be the outcome, Pakistan will not accept defeat.
Last proposal has been given to Iran: Cheema
Speaking to Al Jazeera, Qamar Cheema, executive director of foreign policy think tank Sanobar Institute, said that Pakistan is definitely disappointed with the results of the talks between America and Iran in Islamabad, but it will not accept defeat. He said that this talk was one of the most serious efforts at diplomacy between America and Iran in the last decade.
He further said that a last proposal has been given to Iran and now the Iranian delegation will have to take opinion from its top leadership on this proposal, which includes many new aspects, because many prominent leaders of Tehran have been killed in US and Israeli attacks.
Pakistan played its role in this talks: Cheema
According to Al Jazeera’s report, foreign policy expert Qamar Cheema said that Pakistan has played its role well in this important dialogue. Pakistan’s job was to bring both the sides to the negotiating table, Pakistan’s job was to reduce the distance between the two and restore trust and Pakistan has done this.
He said, ‘Pakistan is getting recognition for this at the global level. Both sides are praising Pakistan. We achieved a ceasefire, that was the most important thing and we are confident that in the coming days they (America and Iran) will come back again and give their respective responses to the proposal that has been made to them. This is an ongoing process and we are looking forward to it.
