It is being claimed that due to heavy rains and floods, about 3000 gas cylinders from HPCL’s Patalganga LPG bottling plant were washed away in the strong current of water. After this incident, the administration has appealed to the people not to touch any cylinder found on the river or bank and immediately inform the concerned authorities.

In the viral video, a large number of LPG cylinders are seen floating amidst the strong flow of the river. People standing on the bridge are seen recording this scene in their rooms, while some people are also seen coming down to the river bank and taking out some gas cylinders from the water. According to the information, due to heavy rains, there was waterlogging in HPCL’s Patalganga bottling plant, after which about 3000 cylinders, including both filled and empty cylinders, were washed away into the river. After the video surfaced, Raigarh administration and District Collector have also clearly told the people that if any LPG cylinder is seen on the river or bank, then do not try to pick it up or take it home. Officials say that it is not yet known which cylinder is full or empty, hence any kind of carelessness can prove fatal.

However, many people also raised questions on the viral video. One user wrote that this is the case of Patalganga plant of Raigarh district, not of Kolhapur. Another said that a company like HPCL would not keep the cylinder in the open in such a way that it could easily be spilled. While a user warned the people in the comment, he wrote that the LPG cylinder which got washed away in the flood is not a found thing, every cylinder has a unique number, hand it over to the concerned agency only, do not pick it up and take it home. Many users raised questions on the system and asked how flood water entered the plant of such a big government company.
