US-Iran peace talks: Kushner-Witkoff will go on Saturday, Araghchi reaching Islamabad, big statement from White House

US Iran Peace Talks: The White House has indicated that preparations for the second round of talks between America and Iran in Islamabad are almost complete. According to Press Secretary Caroline Levitt, US envoys Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff are expected to leave for Pakistan on Saturday, where they will take part in possible peace talks.

The White House also said that the situation is not clear yet regarding the participation of Vice President JD Vance, but if needed, he can also participate. The special thing that was told was that Iran has expressed its desire for direct dialogue with America, which has further strengthened the possibilities of talks.

Movement intensifies regarding second round of talks

Meanwhile, Abbas Araghchi has reached Islamabad with a small delegation. This visit comes after his recent conversation with Ishaq Dar, in which ceasefire and diplomatic efforts were discussed. According to reports, American logistics and security teams are already present in Islamabad, although no official confirmation has been made yet on the visit.

Also, according to the report of ‘Dawn’, Pakistan is trying to bring both the countries to the negotiation table as a mediator, so that the talks can be taken forward after the failure of the first round.

Appeal to cancel Araghchi tour

Fars News Agency on Friday appealed to Abbas Araghchi to cancel his proposed visit to Islamabad. The agency argues that if his visit coincides with the visit of the US delegation, it would signal that Iran is ready for continued negotiations, which it described as “costly” and “useless”.

The report also said that there is increasing concern within the country regarding this initiative of the Foreign Minister. The agency claimed that the first two rounds of talks with America did not yield any positive results, but it was only after that that the current conflict situation arose. This statement has come at a time when the diplomatic stir is intense regarding the possible second round of talks between America and Iran and Pakistan is trying to play the role of mediator.

Increased military presence in the Middle East

In parallel with diplomatic activities, the US has also increased its military presence in the region. USS George HW Bush (CVN-77) has arrived in the Indian Ocean and is now deployed with USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72) (Arabian Sea) and USS Gerald R. Ford (CVN-78) (Red Sea).

This deployment indicates that on one hand the efforts for dialogue are being intensified, on the other hand military preparations are also being strengthened in the area, which makes this entire incident more sensitive.
