Two years ago hardly anyone would have thought that an innocent 15 year old boy Vaibhav Suryavanshi would dominate the entire world of cricket. There is a strong demand to bring Vaibhav into Team India. It is also expected that he may be given a chance in the T20 series against Ireland. But former Indian cricket team captain Sourav Ganguly thinks differently on this subject.
Bring Vaibhav into T20 but…
According to Times of India, Sourav Ganguly said that Vaibhav should be immediately included in T20, but he is not ready for Test cricket yet. Vaibhav has made his first-class debut for Bihar in domestic cricket. So far, he has scored 207 runs in his first-class career of 8 matches.
On the issue of bringing Vaibhav Suryavanshi into Team India, Sourav Ganguly said – Vaibhav should be given a chance immediately in T20, but not in Test. He will have to score a lot of runs in first-class to make a place. Vaibhav is very talented. It is incredible to see a 15 year old boy bat like this in front of the best of the world. He is the future of the Indian team.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi has a very high boundary percentage in red ball cricket also. In his first-class career so far, he has scored runs at a strike rate of 90. These figures are proof that Vaibhav keeps trying to score boundaries even in red ball cricket, whereas Sourav Ganguly’s statement indicates that Vaibhav should play with determination, only then he can get a place in the Test team.
Towards creating glorious history
Vaibhav Suryavanshi has so far scored 835 runs in his 21-match IPL career. If he scores 165 more runs within the next three innings, then the Indian record of completing 1000 runs in the fewest innings in IPL will be added to the name of Vaibhav Suryavanshi. Currently this record is in the name of Sai Sudarshan, who had completed 1000 runs in 25 innings.
