Varun Dhawan, Mrunal Thakur and Pooja Hegde are seen in the recreated version of ‘Chunari Chunari’ in the film ‘Hai Jawaani Toh Ishq Hona Hai’. However, people are expressing a lot of disappointment over the remix of the song of the film on social media. The original was released in 1999, starring Salman Khan and Sushmita Sen.

Singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya has also jumped into the controversy regarding the song ‘Chunari Chunari’ from ‘Hai Jawaani Toh Ishq Hona Hai’. He has also openly criticized this recreated version and also took a dig at Varun Dhawan by saying that he is repeatedly resorting to remakes of famous Bollywood songs.

‘David Dhawan’s son cannot be Salman Khan’
Speaking to news agency ANI, Abhijeet Bhattacharya criticized Varun for the remake and gave a strong statement saying that David Dhawan’s son cannot be Salman Khan. He said, “This song was the biggest song of Salman Khan’s life. From the time it came, it is trending till now. The biggest hit of Salman Khan’s life is ‘Chunari Chunari.’ At that time he was a rising star, not a superstar.”

He further said, “The actor (Varun Dhawan) has always worked in the same films, especially when his father (David Dhawan) directed the original films. He uses the same songs which were hits once. Varun Dhawan cannot become Salman Khan with this song. There is a huge difference between Salman Khan and Varun Dhawan.”

Chunari Chunari’s remake feels like Bhajan.
Abhijeet Bhattacharya made fun of the remake of Chunari Chunari and said that it sounds like a bhajan. He said, “When I heard the song, I thought it was a bhajan. Chunari Chunari was originally a romantic song, which has now been made a bhajan.”

The veteran singer also claimed that the makers of Varun Dhawan’s film did not contact him before remaking the song. He said, “Even if they had approached me for the remake, I would have thought twice before doing it. There was a lot of acting in my original version. I am glad that I did not sing this song because it would have brought down the quality of the song. Varun could not have sung it the way we had sung it in the original version. He took the safe route.”

Let us tell you that Hai Jawaani To Ishq Hona Hai has been directed by Varun Dhawan’s father David Dhawan. Mrinal Thakur is also in the lead role in the film. This film will be released in theaters on June 5.
