As soon as the video went viral, the debate intensified on the internet.
After the video surfaced, social media seemed divided into two parts. Some people supported the woman, saying that if a fare is shown on the app and the amount is changed later, it could cause trouble for passengers. One user wrote that the woman raised the right question. It is important to raise voice in such matters, so that passengers do not face problems in future. Another user said that this happens many times in Rapido, instead of arguing with the driver, talk to customer support, usually the extra money is refunded. Many people took the side of the auto driver and said that it is not right to hold the driver responsible for such disputes. One user wrote in the comment section that the driver probably looks like an 18-19 year old boy, who is trying to earn his living. It is not right to make a video of it for Rs 30 and post it on social media. Another user commented that if there is a difference in fare then a complaint should be made to the company, the driver asks for the same amount which is visible on his app.
