Virat Kohli Statement: ‘Maybe their plan was to get me out early, but…’ This statement of Virat Kohli went viral after winning the final match

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) won the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 title. In the final match on Sunday, RCB won by 5 wickets against Gujarat Titans (GT) at Narendra Modi Stadium. Virat Kohli, who played an unbeaten inning of 75 runs with 3 sixes and 9 fours in 42 balls for RCB, was chosen as the ‘Player of the Match’.

With Virat Kohli, RCB has won the IPL title for the second consecutive time. After the title win, Kohli said, “This is the thing you always dream of. I had imagined this moment many times, winning the IPL and standing here. Our team gives you the confidence to deal with every kind of situation. That is what today’s game demands. Young players constantly push you to be better and expect to contribute more from you. You have to add those extra 20-30 runs for the team. That is why I had to change my thinking, so that I can add those extra runs for the team. I can score runs”.

RCB was on top with 9 wins in 14 league matches. Kohli said, “Our target was to finish the league stage on top of the points table. Many people asked which team we would like to face in the playoffs, but it did not matter to us which jersey was in front.”

RCB, chasing the target of 156 runs to win, won in just 18 overs on the basis of Kohli’s brilliant innings. During this, Kohli added 62 runs in 27 balls with opener Venkatesh Iyer (32), while he added 41 runs for the fifth wicket with Tim David (24).

Praising RCB, Kohli said, “We are a professional team. Maybe their plan was to get me out early, but I was confident that even if I get out, there is so much depth in our batting that the team can win the match. There was complete clarity between me and my fellow batsman and we both wanted to rotate the strike. We had set small targets for ourselves. Credit also goes to Venkatesh, he came and did a great job. I always say that only 7 home matches for us. There are no home matches, but there are 14 home matches. Here Gujarat Titans was the home team, but probably 90 percent of the spectators were RCB supporters.
