West Bengal Election 2026: Voting will be held again on Falta seat of Bengal, date of result also changed, decision of Election Commission

Big news related to West Bengal elections is coming out. Here in Falta assembly constituency, voting will be held again at all the polling stations. That means, on May 4, election results will be declared for all the 293 seats in the state except Falta seat. At the same time, the election results of Falta Assembly will now come on 24th May. There was also an allegation of rigging on the Falta seat. There was even a claim of pasting tape on EVMs.

The Election Commission has said in its order that re-polling will be conducted at all 285 polling stations including auxiliary polling stations. Re-polling will be conducted at all polling stations on 21 May 2026 between 7 am and 6 pm. Counting of votes will take place on 24 May 2026. The Election Commission has taken this action because cases of serious electoral crimes and disrupting the democratic process were reported at the polling stations of this assembly.

BJP had alleged, had said- the party’s election symbol was covered with tape.

Voting was going on in Falta on 29 April. Then shocking news came from Falta. On this assembly seat, BJP had alleged that at some booths, BJP’s election symbol lotus print on EVMs was covered with tape. There was a demand for immediate intervention of the Election Commission on this entire matter.

However, after the news of clashes and disturbances, security was increased at Falta assembly seat. There were complaints of clashes at some booths and taping of EVMs. Then the patrolling of paramilitary forces and monitoring of booths was increased. BJP had made serious allegations against TMC. Here CAPF soldiers were continuously visiting the booth. The soldiers were also making announcements. Apart from this, the movement of vehicles with sirens and additional soldiers was also increased in Falta at that time.

Re-voting took place at these polling booths on May 2.

Earlier on Saturday i.e. on May 2, re-voting was held at 15 polling stations of two assembly seats of South 24 Parganas district. Till 5 pm, the average voting percentage in 15 booths was recorded at 86.90. The voting percentage in 11 polling stations of Magrahat (West) assembly constituency was 86.11. At the same time, this figure was recorded at 87.60 percent in 4 booths of Diamond Harbor assembly constituency. The official figures of the final voting percentage can be released late Saturday night or Sunday morning.

Booth Number in Magrahat West 46, 126, 127, 128, 142, 214, 215, 216, 230, 231 and 232 But votes were cast again. Also the booth number of Diamond Harbor Seat 117, 179, 194 and 243 But again voting was conducted.

This much voting took place for the first time in the history of the country

Earlier, there was record voting in two phases of West Bengal Assembly elections on 23 April and 29 April. The average voting percentage in both the phases reached 93 percent, which is said to be the highest in the state since independence. The previous record of highest turnout in the country is in the name of Tripura. There was 91.82 percent voting in the 2013 assembly elections.
