Who is Urvil Patel?

Urvil was born on 17 October 1998 in Mehsana, Gujarat. He plays as a wicketkeeper batsman. It was not at all easy for 27-year-old Urvil to reach IPL. Urvil, who plays domestic cricket for Gujarat and Baroda, made his IPL debut while playing for Chennai in the last season i.e. 2025.

Earlier, Gujarat Titans had bought Urvil for the 2023 season for a price of Rs 20 lakh. However, Urvil could not get a chance in Gujarat. After this Urvil was completely broken. But after coming to Chennai, Urvil’s luck changed.

How did you enter Chennai Super Kings?

Gujarat released Urvil after the 2023 season. He remained unsold in the 2024 auction. Then in May 2025, Chennai included Urvil in place of injured Vansh Vedi. Chennai signed Urvil for a price of Rs 30 lakh.

In the 2025 season, he made his IPL debut on 7 May playing against Kolkata Knight Riders. In the very first match, he showed what his batting style is by scoring 31 runs in 11 balls. Right from the days of domestic cricket, Urvil made his mark as a dynamic batsman.

Urvil holds the record for scoring the fastest T20 century.

Urvil scored a T20 century in 28 balls during the 2024-25 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. This was the joint fastest century scored by an Indian batsman in T20 cricket. Abhishek Sharma has also scored a century in 28 balls.

Urvil Patel’s career

Talking about Urvil’s career, till now he has played 16 First Class, 29 List-A and 60 T20 matches. He has scored 837 runs in 27 first class innings. He has scored 942 runs in 28 innings of List-A. Urvil has scored 1470 runs in the remaining 60 innings of T20.
