DMK Congress Rift: A major political development has come to light in the politics of Tamil Nadu, where the long standing alliance between Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and Congress now appears to be on the verge of breaking. Congress has said that it will support Vijay’s Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) in forming the government. There are continuous heated exchanges between the leaders of both the parties, due to which the turmoil in the political circles has intensified.

Congress MP Manickam Tagore, reacting to DMK’s allegations, said that not only DMK had lost the elections, but Congress had also suffered losses. He said that DMK has been in power many times, so it would not be right to say that they suffered losses only because of Congress.

Congress MP Manikam Tagore replied

Manickam Tagore said that the language being used by DMK spokespersons is unfortunate. He reminded that even after the defeat in 2011, Congress had supported DMK, but in the same year DMK decided to contest the local body elections separately. After this, in 2013, DMK was also out of the UPA government.

‘After all, who betrayed whom?’

Manickam Tagore raised the question and said that if betrayal is being talked about then who betrayed whom. He said that in the year 2016, everyone had realized that DMK cannot win the elections without Congress. For this reason, an alliance was formed again between the two parties and success was achieved on about 95 seats. He said that Congress has made a lot of political sacrifices to maintain friendship. Congress has also lost its seats, so DMK spokespersons should control their language.

DMK’s secular image was mentioned

Manickam Tagore said that there are two major secular political forces in Tamil Nadu and Congress has always respected the secular image of DMK. He appealed to DMK leaders to give statements responsibly.

T.R. Balu made serious allegations against Congress

Whereas senior DMK leader and party treasurer T.R. Earlier, Balu had made a scathing attack on Congress. He said that the recent attitude of Congress has exposed its real political thinking. Balu alleged that DMK always supported Congress in times of crisis and for this it also suffered political losses many times.

T.R. Baalu said that DMK always maintained strong relations with Sonia Gandhi and late former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. He also mentioned the party’s emotional relationship with Rahul Gandhi. Baalu said that Rahul Gandhi often talks to Chief Minister M.K. He called Stalin his brother. He said that when the news came in the media that Congress was talking about ending these old relationships, he was not much surprised by it.

Mention of Stalin’s support in 2019 elections

T.R. Baalu said that while Congress itself was hesitant in making Rahul Gandhi the prime ministerial face, DMK chief M.K. Stalin had first supported the name of Rahul Gandhi from Chennai. He said that due to the support of DMK, the alliance got a big victory in two elections and a large number of MPs from Tamil Nadu reached Parliament.

‘Time will answer for betrayal’

At the end of his statement T.R. Balu said that defeat and betrayal are not new things for DMK. He said that the public is watching everything and will definitely respond to such political betrayal when the time comes.
