The 9th season of the Indian Premier League has started colorfully. Punjab Kings, Rajasthan Royals and defending champion Royal Challengers Bangalore have made a strong start to the season. Even before the IPL 2026 tournament had started, the process of players getting injured had started. Especially many star players of Kolkata Knight Riders have not played in IPL 2026. Whereas MS Dhoni has also not been seen in action for CSK till now. Know here where the star players of all the 10 teams are missing.

Chennai Super Kings – MS Dhoni

Former Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni is sitting out of the playing eleven due to injury. Although he is not out of the entire tournament.

Kolkata Knight Riders- Harshit Rana, Akashdeep, Mathisha Pathirana

Kolkata Knight Riders have suffered the most loss. Harshit Rana and Akashdeep, both the fast bowlers of the team, are out of the entire tournament due to injury. Mathisha Pathirana is not out yet, but he has not yet received fitness clearance from the Sri Lanka Cricket Board.

Royal Challengers Bangalore – Josh Hazlewood, Nuwan Thushara, Yash Dayal

RCB’s star fast bowler Yash Dayal has been out of the entire tournament due to personal reasons. Josh Hazlewood has not been able to fully recover from the injury, hence will not be able to play in the first few matches. On the other hand, Nuwan Thushara has also not yet received NOC from the Sri Lanka Cricket Board like Pathirana.

Rajasthan Royals – Sam Curran

All-rounder Sam Curran has been ruled out of the entire IPL 2026 tournament due to groin injury. He has been replaced by Sri Lankan cricketer Dasun Shanaka.

Delhi Capitals – Mitchell Starc, Ben Duckett

Mitchell Starc is recovering from shoulder and elbow injuries. Because of this, Starc will not be able to play in the first few matches of IPL 2026. On the other hand, Ben Duckett had withdrawn his name from the IPL 2026 tournament.

Mumbai Indians – Hardik Pandya, Atharva Ankolekar

Hardik Pandya could not play in the match against Delhi Capitals due to illness. Atharva Ankolekar could have got a chance to make his IPL debut this time, but has been ruled out of the tournament due to a knee injury.

Gujarat Titans- Ishant Sharma

Ishant Sharma is one of the senior players of Gujarat Titans, but he has not been given a chance in the playing eleven. The good thing is that Gujarat’s bench strength also looks quite strong.

Punjab Kings – Lockie Ferguson, Glenn Maxwell

Punjab Kings have suffered major setbacks in terms of foreign players. Maxwell had withdrawn his name before the auction, so he will not play in IPL 2026. Whereas Lockie Ferguson is out of the first few matches of the tournament.

Sunrisers Hyderabad – Pat Cummins

Sunrisers Hyderabad’s regular captain Pat Cummins is going to be out of some matches due to not being able to fully recover from the injury. In his place, Ishan Kishan is captaining the SRH team.

Lucknow Super Giants – Wanindu Hasaranga, Josh English, Mayank Yadav

Mayank Yadav has got fitness clearance, but due to some reason he could not play against Delhi Capitals. Wanindu Hasaranga is also out of LSG’s playing eleven due to fitness related problems. There are speculations that he may miss the entire season. Australian wicketkeeper batsman Josh English can join the LSG team after a few matches.
