15 year old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi did not get a chance to make his international debut in the first T20 against Ireland. Indian captain Shreyas Iyer won the toss and decided to bowl. After Iyer won the toss, everyone was curious to know whether Vaibhav would debut today or not. Unfortunately his debut could not happen.
Now the question is arising that why Vaibhav, who has been consistently performing brilliantly, could not make his debut? Captain Iyer answered this in very clear words. Iyer said that it was difficult to include Vaibhav in the team considering his experience. India’s new T20 captain expressed more confidence in the current players.
What did Shreyas Iyer say about Vaibhav Suryavanshi?
When Iyer was asked whether Vaibhav was playing today? Responding to this, he said, “Unfortunately no. He is a fantastic player. But obviously there are players in our team who have a lot of experience and who have performed brilliantly for India in the last few series. So we are backing most of our players who have performed very well throughout the season.”
Iyer further said, “I think he (Vaibhav Suryavanshi) will get a chance when the right time comes. But for now, we are going with three genuine seamers, an all-rounder and two spinners.
Let us tell you that the second and last T20 of the series will be played on Sunday (28 June). Now it will be interesting to see whether Vaibhav gets a place in the playing 11 for the second match or not. At present, not only India, but the entire cricket world is eyeing Vaibhav’s international debut.
