Yuvraj Singh: Six balls, six sixes and 36 runs
This list starts from the 2007 T20 World Cup. The match was being played between India and England in Durban, South Africa. The heated argument between Andrew Flintoff and Yuvraj Singh during the match heated up the atmosphere. After this, England’s young fast bowler Stuart Broad had to face the anger of Yuvraj. In the 19th over, Yuvraj created history by hitting six sixes in six consecutive balls. A total of 36 runs came from Broad’s over and for the first time in T20 International cricket, a batsman scored so many runs in one over.
Yuvraj’s feat repeated after 14 years
The cricket world had to wait 14 years to equal Yuvraj’s record. In the year 2021, the match was played between West Indies and Sri Lanka in Antigua. Sri Lankan spinner Akila Dhananjay caught everyone’s attention by taking a hat-trick in the match, but after some time Kieron Pollard won the entire match. He scored 36 runs in one over of Dhananjay by hitting six consecutive sixes. With this, Pollard became the second batsman in the world to score 36 runs in an over in T20 international cricket.
Record of 36 runs made in the partnership of Rohit Sharma and Rinku Singh
In January 2024, a unique record was made in the match between India and Afghanistan at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Karim Janat of Afghanistan came to bowl the last over. Rohit Sharma started with fours and sixes, while a no-ball gave India the extra advantage. After this Rohit handed over the strike to Rinku Singh. Rinku hit three consecutive sixes on the last three balls. In this way both the batsmen together scored 36 runs from a single over. This was the first time that two batsmen scored 36 runs in an over in partnership.
Kushal Bhurtel broke the old record by scoring 37 runs.
In the match played between Nepal and China in Singapore in May 2026, Kushal Bhurtel created a new history. Chinese bowler Chen Zhuo Yue looked completely helpless in front of him. Bhurtel hit five consecutive sixes on the first five balls. Under pressure, the bowler bowled a wide, due to which Nepal got an extra run. After this, Bhurtel hit a six on the last valid ball also. In this way, a total of 37 runs came from the over and they left behind Yuvraj Singh and Kieron Pollard’s record of 36 runs.

Darius Visser’s record of 39 runs which is difficult to break
Records are made and broken in cricket, but what happened in August 2024 surprised everyone. In the match played between Samoa and Vanuatu, Darius Visser bowled the most expensive over in history. Visser hit three consecutive sixes on the first three balls against Vanuatu bowler Nalin Nipiko. After this, he also hit a six on the no-ball. The pressure increased and the bowler kept bowling no-balls continuously.

The extra balls and Visser’s aggressive batting combined to create a rain of records. By the end of the over, six sixes had been hit in six balls, while three no-balls further increased the difficulties of the bowler. The result was that a total of 39 runs came from a single over. With this, Darius Visser became the batsman scoring the most runs in an over in T20 international cricket.
