No more restrictions on purchase of petrol and diesel
As per the rules of the Central Government, from July 1, the restrictions imposed earlier on the purchase of petrol and diesel on general and commercial customers are being removed. The government has completely ended all emergency restrictions and rationing. Earlier, in the event of war between America and Iran and tension in West Asia reaching its peak, a limit of 200 liters per consumer was fixed on the daily sale of diesel, and commercial customers were banned from purchasing fuel from retail pumps. From today all these rules have been abolished. From now on, commercial vehicles and factories can buy fuel without any limit.

The country’s Foreign Ministry has increased the fees for both passport application and re-issue under the Passport (Amendment) Rules, 2026. This is the first major increase in the last 14 years. The new charges are of some types:-
36 page normal passport: Rs 2,500 (earlier Rs 1,500)
60 page normal passport: Rs 3,500 (earlier Rs 2,000)
36 page Tatkal Passport: Rs 5,000
60 page Tatkal Passport: Rs 6,000
Free Aadhaar Email Update
Today, from July 1, for the next 6 months (December 31), UIDAI has completely waived the fee of Rs 75 for updating email address in Aadhaar. However, this free service will be applicable only on updates made through the official mobile app of UIDAI (Aadhaar Mobile App). If you go to any Aadhaar center and get the image changed, you will have to pay the full fee.
What changes did RBI make?
Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has implemented many strict rules from July 1 to prevent wrong selling of products by the bank. If the bank or any of its employees sells an insurance policy, mutual fund or any scheme to a customer without giving complete information or by misleading him, then the bank will not only have to return the entire money but will also have to compensate the financial loss suffered by the customer. Along with this, ban has also been imposed on telemarketing and promotional calls.
Last date for filing ITR
People filing ITR-1 and ITR-2 for the business year 2026-27 (assessment year 2026-27) will have to file their income tax returns by July 31, 2026. The last month of this deadline has started from today.
Rules for lounge access on HDFC Bank Credit Card
For select premium credit cardholders of HDFC Bank, domestic airport lounge access has been linked to minimum quarterly spend or special spending criteria. That is, the credit card holders of the bank will get the facility of free domestic airport lounge visit in any quarter only if they have spent at least Rs 60,000 in the previous quarter. Accordingly, if you want to avail lounge access facility in July-September 2026, then you will have to spend Rs 60,000 in April-June 2026.
Change in reward points of SBI cards
SBI Card is going to make changes in the reward points program on PhonePe SBI Credit Card and Select Bank variants from today, July 1. From now on, reward points will not be available on certain types of transactions done through them.
What rules did Railways change?
Under the ‘Public Trust Act, 2026’, Indian Railways has increased the minimum fine for those traveling without tickets from the earlier Rs 250 to Rs 500 from today. Also, rules have been implemented to impose an immediate fine of Rs 2500 and direct action of deboarding from the train if male passengers travel or enter the women’s coach. Apart from this, the rule of imposing a direct fine of Rs 2000 for smoking at stations has also come into effect from today.
EPFO’s online services restored
The database upgradation and system migration work of the Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) was going on since June 26, which ended on June 30 at around 12 midnight. From today, July 1, all online PM withdrawal, transfer and claim services of EPFO have started again.
