Ranji Trophy 2025: Jammu and Kashmir team has defeated Rajasthan by an innings and 141 runs in the second round of Ranji Trophy 2025. This match played on the ground of Srinagar was entirely in the name of one player, fast bowler Aaqib. He bowled brilliantly and took 10 wickets in the entire match and put Rajasthan’s batsmen completely on the backfoot.
Aaqib Nabi single-handedly turned the match
In the first innings, Aaqib prevented Rajasthan from making a big score by taking three wickets. After that, he wreaked havoc in the second innings. He sent 7 batsmen to the pavilion and the entire Rajasthan team collapsed for just 89 runs. On the basis of his lethal bowling, Aaqib Nabi also won the Player of the Match award.

Who is Aaqib Nabi?
28 year old Aaqib Nabi comes from Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir. His father is a school teacher. Aqib is also very good in studies. Interestingly, there were no formal coaching facilities in Baramulla at that time, so Aaqib started learning by watching Dale Steyn’s videos to improve himself. He considers Stan as his “virtual coach”.

Till now Aaqib Nabi has played 33 first-class, 29 List A, and 27 T20 matches. He has taken 113 wickets in first class cricket, 42 wickets in List A, and 28 wickets in T20. It is clear from his ever increasing success that Jammu and Kashmir cricket has now got a new star.
