On one hand, US President Donald Trump praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi and described him as a very good, influential and very strict person. On the other hand, while once again commenting on the India-Pakistan conflict, he claimed that he had stopped the recent military clash between the two countries. A few hours before this, the US President also claimed that between May 7 and 10, seven brand new aircraft were shot down during Operation Vermillion.
Addressing the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) CEO Summit in Gyeongju, South Korea, Trump said, ‘Prime Minister Modi is a very fine person, he is a person in whom you see the image of your father. He is very effective. He is very strict.
Trump said on talks with PM Modi
Trump arrived in South Korea on Wednesday (October 29, 2025) morning from Japan, which is part of his trip to three countries in Asia. He said he has excellent relations with Prime Minister Modi and reiterated that he had taken the help of trade to prevent conflict between India and Pakistan.

The US President said, ‘I called Prime Minister Modi. I said we can’t make a trade deal with you. He (Modi) said, no, no, we should do business. I said no, we can’t, if you are going to fight a war with Pakistan then we will not do business again.
Trump praised Asim Munir
Apart from this, Donald Trump also praised Pakistan Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir and described him as an excellent warrior and a good person. He said, ‘Then I called the Field Marshal of Pakistan. I said we will not do business with you because you are fighting with India and you know both of you are nuclear nations. He (Munir) said no, no, you let us fight. Both (Modi and Munir) said the same. Trump claimed that the leaders of both the countries called him two days later and asked him to stop the conflict.
He said, ‘Just two days later they called and said they understood and they stopped the fight. is not it wonderful? Now think about whether (former President) Joe Biden could have done this?
Trump gave a different statement in Tokyo
However, a few hours before these comments, Trump had claimed in Japan’s capital Tokyo that he had stopped the war in just 24 hours. Trump is often known for contradictions in his statements. During a dinner with businessmen in Tokyo on Tuesday (October 28, 2025), Trump said, ‘Seven planes were shot down, seven brand new, beautiful planes, and those were two major nuclear powers clashing with each other.’
India did Operation Sindoor in Pakistan
It is noteworthy that on May 10, Trump had announced on social media that India and Pakistan have agreed to a complete and immediate ceasefire. He had claimed that this was possible after late night talks mediated by Washington. Since then, Trump has claimed several times that he helped resolve the India-Pakistan conflict.
India has consistently clarified that the ceasefire agreement with Pakistan was reached through direct talks between the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) of the armies of the two countries. India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7, in which terrorist hideouts in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) were targeted. This was in response to the terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22, 2025, in which 26 civilians were killed. India and Pakistan agreed to end the conflict on May 10 after four days of drone and missile attacks.
