India’s World Cup hero Amanjot Kaur recently came into limelight due to a false news. The rumor spread rapidly on social media that his grandmother had passed away after the World Cup final, but Amanjot himself came forward and called all these news completely false. He appealed to his fans not to believe such wrong information.
Amanjot became India’s hero in the World Cup final
India created history by defeating South Africa by 52 runs in the Women’s ODI World Cup final played at DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on 2 November. There was a time during the match when South Africa’s captain Laura Wolvaardt seemed to be changing the course of the match by scoring a brilliant century (101 not out).
At the same time, Amanjot Kaur took a catch on the boundary line which changed the course of the entire game. On Woolworth’s shot, Amanjot made a brilliant jump and caught the ball in the air and gave India the wicket which pushed the team towards victory.
The family had hidden the truth
After India’s victory, Amanjot’s father Bhupinder Singh said that it was a difficult time for the family during the tournament. He said, “My mother Bhagwanti ji had a heart attack, but we did not tell this to Amanjot so that he could concentrate on his game.”
Bhupinder Singh told that his mother was the person who supported Amanjot in the beginning of his cricket journey. He said, “When I was working in the workshop, mother used to sit outside the house and watch Amanjot playing cricket with the boys in the park.”
Amanjeet Kaur’s befitting reply
After the father’s statement, some websites spread wrong news on social media that Amanjot’s grandmother had passed away. On this, Amanjot posted on Twitter and Instagram and wrote, “Hey, just want to tell everyone that my grandmother is completely healthy. Please do not believe or spread such false news. Thanks to all those who expressed concern.” He further wrote, “My 90s kid grandmother is absolutely fit and fine.”
