Chhattisgarh government has decided to make a big and historic change in the school education system of the state. The School Education Department has decided to conduct the education session in the entire state from April 1 to March 31 from the coming academic year 2027-28. The purpose of this change is to make the education system of the state at par with other major education boards of the country and to provide all the necessary facilities to the students from the beginning of the session. In this regard, School Education Secretary Dr. Kamalpreet Singh has issued necessary guidelines to the Director of Public Instruction Directorate. The department believes that with the implementation of the new system, educational activities will become more organized and there will be no hindrance in studies as students will get study material on time.
There will be changes in the current academic session
At present the education session in Chhattisgarh runs from 16 June to 30 April. Now this system will be abolished. Under the new system, the academic session will start from April 1 every year and will continue till March 31 next year. With this, the education calendar of the state will become similar to other major education boards and boards of the country. The government believes that by having a common academic session, better coordination can be established in administrative work, examinations and conduct of educational activities.
There will be no change in summer vacation
The School Education Department has clarified that the change in the academic session will not affect the summer holidays of the students. Like before, there will be summer vacation from 1st May to 15th June. This means that there has been no reduction in the duration of holidays given to students and teachers. Only the time limit of the academic session has been changed so that studies and other educational activities can be conducted in a timely manner.

All facilities will be available from the first day of the session
To make the new system effective, the department has instructed all concerned officers to complete the necessary preparations on time. Now every year on 1st April, School Entrance Utsav will be organized with the beginning of the new session. From this day itself, distribution of free textbooks to students, distribution of cycles under Saraswati Cycle Scheme, providing school uniforms and benefits of other student-friendly schemes will also be ensured. With this, students will not have to wait for books, uniforms or other facilities for a long time after the start of the session.
Education system will be more effective
The government says that with the implementation of the new system, teaching work in schools will start regularly from the very first day. If students get all the necessary resources on time, their studies will not be affected and teachers will also get the facility to implement the academic plan of the entire session on time. Apart from this, educational activities, examinations and various student welfare schemes can also be conducted in a more organized manner. The Education Department believes that this decision will prove to be an important step towards increasing the quality of school education in the state and providing a better educational environment to the students.
