The Left has once again won the student union elections of Delhi’s Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU). Left candidates have won on all four posts. Left’s Aditi Mishra has won the post of President.
Left candidate Aditi Mishra has defeated ABVP’s Vikas Patel for the post of president. Left’s K. is on the post of Vice President. Gopika has defeated Tanya Kumari of ABVP.
Apart from this, Left’s Sunil Yadav has defeated ABVP’s Rajeshwar Kant Dubey for the post of General Secretary. Also, Left’s Danish Ali has defeated Anuj Damara for the post of Joint Secretary.
ABVP drought since 2015
Last year, ABVP made a big comeback after a decade by winning the post of Joint Secretary in the Central Panel of JNU Students Union. ABVP last won this post in 2015, after which for many years leftist organizations continued to hold all the key posts and made a clean sweep every time.
Last time ABVP had won on one post
ABVP’s victory last year was considered a big morale boost for it. But recent trends show that the Left still has a strong base in JNU. This time again the Left alliance has taken a clear lead on the Central Panel and the electoral picture once again seems to be going in their favor. Despite ABVP’s previous victory, for the first time since 2015, the Left has once again made a clean sweep in JNU this year.
