The Madhya Pradesh government on Monday (November 10) approved increasing the monthly financial assistance under the Laadli Behna Scheme from Rs 1,250 to Rs 1,500. More than 1.26 crore women beneficiaries of this scheme will start getting the increased amount from this month. An additional expenditure of Rs 1793.75 crore will be incurred on this.

According to the report of news agency PTI, the total estimated expenditure for the scheme in the year 2025-26 has increased to Rs 20,450.99 crore. Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav is going to start the payment of the increased amount in a program to be held on November 12 in Seoni district.

CM Mohan Yadav had promised women

A government statement said, ‘The Cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Monday approved increasing the monthly financial assistance under the Ladli Brahmin Scheme from Rs 1,250 to Rs 1,500.’ CM Mohan Yadav, during a function in Sheopur on October 12, had said that the upcoming Bhai Dooj and Diwali festivals will bring good news for women as the assistance under the scheme will be increased.

Initially the assistance amount was Rs 1000

It is known that this scheme was started on June 10, 2023, during the tenure of former Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. At that time the amount of assistance under this was Rs 1000. The government had revised it to Rs 1,250 in September 2023 itself. This scheme is considered to be an election game changer for BJP in Madhya Pradesh.
