Despite neck injury, Shubman Gill will go to Guwahati for the second Test match against South Africa to be played from November 22. BCCI) has given this information on Wednesday. Gill had a stiff neck on the second day of the first Test match played in Kolkata. He retired hurt after scoring four runs in the first innings and after that could not play further in the match. Gill had to be admitted to the hospital due to this injury. In the absence of Gill, the Indian team lost this match by 30 runs.
Shubman Gill will go to Guwahati with the team on Wednesday- BCCI Secretary
BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia said in a statement, “Shubman Gill is responding well to the treatment. He will go to Guwahati with the team on November 19, 2025. The BCCI medical team will continue to monitor him and the decision on his participation in the second Test will be taken based on his progress.”
Let us tell you that due to Gill’s chances of playing in the second Test match being very less, all-rounder Nitish Reddy has been recalled from the ongoing India A series against South Africa A in Rajkot. He joined the team in Kolkata on Monday evening, but did not participate in the optional practice session on Tuesday. If Gill is not fit then Reddy can be included in the playing eleven in his place.
