Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday (22 November 2025) held talks with several world leaders on various issues and said that they reiterated their shared commitment to global progress and prosperity. Modi met British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, French President Emmanuel Macron, South Korean President Lee Jae-myung, Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva and UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on the sidelines of the G20 leaders’ summit in South Africa.
“It was great to meet British Prime Minister Keir Starmer in Johannesburg. This year has brought new energy to the India-UK partnership and we will continue to take it forward in many areas,” Modi said in a post on ‘X’. Modi said that he had a good conversation with Malaysian Prime Minister Ibrahim. He said that India and Malaysia will continue to work together to deepen bilateral cooperation in various fields. He said that he was happy to meet French President Macron, with whom he had a good conversation on various issues. Modi said in a post on Twitter that India-France relations remain a force for the good of the world.

Meeting with Korean leader Lee Jae-myung
The Prime Minister also met Korean leader Lee Jae-myung. This was his second meeting with Myung this year. Modi said that this conversation is a sign of strong momentum in our special strategic partnership. “We shared vision to further deepen our economic and investment engagement.” After meeting the Brazilian President, Modi said, “India and Brazil will continue to work together to expand trade and cultural ties for the benefit of our people.” The Prime Minister said that he had a very fruitful conversation with UN Chief Guterres. Before the main session of the conference, Prime Minister Modi also spoke to Italian Prime Minister Georgia Meloni and many other leaders.

Sharing a photo with G-20 leaders at the summit, Modi said in a post on ‘X’, ‘Together we reaffirm our shared commitment to global progress and prosperity.’ Modi also met Angolan President Joao Manuel Gonsalves Lourenco and said he had the honor of welcoming him in Delhi earlier this year. “India values friendship with Angola and the two countries are working together to enhance trade as well as cultural ties,” he said. The Prime Minister also met his Singaporean counterpart Lawrence Wong. He said, “India-Singapore partnership remains a mainstay of development and stability.”

Modi met his Vietnamese counterpart Pham Minh Chin. He posted on ‘X’, “We have a commitment towards a strong, future-oriented friendship between India and Vietnam.” Terming the Prime Minister’s meeting with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz as wonderful. He said, “India’s relations with Germany are strong, especially in trade, technology, innovation and other areas.” He also interacted with Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Director General of the World Trade Organization (WTO), during the G20 conference in Johannesburg.
Meeting with the Prime Minister of Ethiopia
Modi also met Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali. He said, “The partnership between India and Ethiopia is historic and has been strengthened by development cooperation. We will continue to strengthen relationships in technology, skills and other areas.” The Prime Minister also met Sierra Leone President Julius Maada Bio. Modi also met World Health Organization (WHO) Director General Tedros Ghebreyesus and said, “As always, a pleasure to meet Tulsi Bhai.” India will always contribute to creating a healthy world.

Earlier, on reaching the G-20 summit venue, Modi said he thanked South African President Cyril Ramaphosa for extending a warm welcome and organizing this important summit. Addressing the inaugural session of the G20 leaders’ meeting, Prime Minister Modi called for a deep rethinking of global development parameters and proposed the creation of a G20 initiative and a global healthcare response team to counter the drug-terrorism nexus.
