After the crushing defeat in Bihar elections, the Congress party has now started preparing for introspection. In this context, an important meeting has been called at the State Congress office in Patna from 11 am today. State President Rajesh Ram will preside over this meeting.
This meeting is the party’s first formal review after the election results. Therefore, instructions have been issued to all the District Heads, Executive District Heads, departments, Morcha-Cell in-charges and heads of frontal organizations to be compulsorily present.
Organizational issues will be discussed in the meeting
The main objective of the meeting is to analyze the election defeat in depth. The party leadership will listen to all the leaders for their suggestions and feedback. An attempt will be made to understand what shortcomings remained in the election campaign or organization and how to avoid them in future. Along with this, organizational issues like strengthening the organization, intensifying the membership campaign and formation of booth committees will also be discussed.
Strategy will be made on the issue of vote theft
During the election campaign, Congress had raised the issue of alleged vote theft several times. This topic will also be discussed in detail in today’s meeting. In this context, a strategy will also be made on the preparations for the national protest rally against Congress’ ‘vote theft’ to be held in Delhi on 14th December. Bihar state unit has been entrusted with the responsibility of ensuring participation in large numbers in this rally.
Alliance partner RJD is the main reason for the party’s defeat?
The importance of this meeting also increases because a few days ago a meeting of Bihar leaders with the Congress high command was held in Delhi. According to sources, in that meeting many Bihar Congress leaders had raised the demand for separation from RJD and blamed alliance partner RJD as the major reason for the party’s defeat. Now, after this meeting to be held in Patna, it will be interesting to see whether Congress indicates to move ahead on the policy of ‘Go Alone’ or prepares a new strategy by staying in the Grand Alliance.
In the Bihar Assembly elections, Congress had contested 60 seats under the Grand Alliance, but the party could win only 6 seats. This poor performance has brought the party organization and leadership under deep questions. In such a situation, today’s meeting is not only a platform for review but can also prove to be an important step in deciding the future direction of the Congress.
