IPL 2026: BCCI has not yet released any official schedule for IPL 2026. However, this time the Karnataka government has taken a big initiative and given relief news to the fans of Bengaluru. State Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar has made it clear that IPL matches will be organized in the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium next season also. This statement has come at a time when questions were being raised on the safety of the stadium after the overcrowding incident of last season.
Big decision of Karnataka government
Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, who came to cast his vote in the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) elections on Sunday, spoke to the media. He said that the state government will not send IPL out of Bengaluru under any circumstances. He gave a statement, “We will not shift the IPL to another place. Chinnaswamy Stadium is the pride of Karnataka and the matches will be held here.” His statement clearly indicates that Bengaluru will remain its home venue in IPL 2026 also.
There was an accident in the victory parade of RCB
Last season, RCB created history and won its first IPL title. There was a huge celebration in Bengaluru after the team’s victory. This joy turned into pain when a stampede broke out during the victory parade organized outside the Chinnaswamy Stadium. 11 people were killed in this stampede, while about 50 fans were injured. After this, serious questions started being raised on the security arrangements and crowd management of the stadium. Even BCCI did not organize any major international match or tournament on this ground after the accident. Women’s World Cup matches were also shifted from Bengaluru to other cities.
Is RCB looking for a new home ground?
It was claimed in social media and some reports that RCB management is considering Pune as its possible home ground, so that any controversy can be avoided in future. However, after the latest statement of the state government, the picture has become quite clear that RCB is not going anywhere from Bengaluru.
All eyes towards BCCI
Now the ball is in the court of BCCI, which will release the official schedule of IPL 2026 in the coming weeks, but after this announcement by the Karnataka government, it can be considered almost certain that the fans of Bengaluru will once again be able to watch RCB matches on their home ground.
