After several days of clashes between Cambodia and Thailand, reconciliation has once again happened. Meanwhile, Cambodia has sent a proposal for ‘quick border meeting’ to Thailand. At the same time, America’s President Donald Trump is once again seen taking credit. Trump compared America to the United Nations.
The State Secretariat for Border Affairs in Cambodia issued a press release on Monday (December 29, 2025). According to this, Cambodia has sent a diplomatic note to Thailand, in which it is proposed to hold a meeting of the Cambodia-Thailand Joint Commission on land demarcation in Siem Reap province of Cambodia in the first week of January 2026.
Cambodia has proposed this meeting to discuss how to resume joint survey and demarcation work to ensure peace on the border between the two countries. However, no process of any kind has come forward on this from Thailand.
On the other hand, US President Donald Trump wrote on Truth Social, ‘I am happy to say that the fighting that started between Thailand and Cambodia will stop for some time and they will start living in peace according to our recent original agreement. I would like to congratulate both the great leaders for their ability to reach this swift and very correct conclusion. It was swift and decisive, as it should be in all these situations.
Comparing the US to the UN, Trump further wrote, ‘America, as always, was proud to help. Of all the wars and conflicts I have solved and prevented over the last eleven months, eight months have probably made America the real United Nations, providing little or no help in any of them, including the devastation going on right now between Russia and Ukraine. The United Nations should start becoming active and involved in world peace.
