A statement by Girdhari Lal Sahu, husband of Women Empowerment Minister Rekha Arya, is creating a stir in the politics of Uttarakhand these days. ‘Girls are available for 20-25 thousand’
In a video going viral on social media, the minister’s husband is seen addressing an unmarried worker and saying that “there is no dearth of girls” and “in Bihar, girls are available for marriage for Rs 20-25 thousand.” Although this viral video has not been confirmed, the political atmosphere has heated up after the video surfaced.
Congress targeted BJP
Congress has called this statement an open insult to the dignity of women. Congress state president Jyoti Rautela has termed it extremely shameful and has raised questions on the moral responsibility of Women Empowerment Minister Rekha Arya. She has demanded a public apology from the minister and her husband. Congress says that the government in which such statements come out from the family of the minister who is responsible for women empowerment, is very unfortunate.
Serious allegations have already been made
It is noteworthy that Girdhari Lal Sahu’s name has already been linked to many controversies. It has been said that his name will surface in the double murder case against him. Apart from this, a serious allegation was also leveled against him that he fraudulently got his servant’s kidney removed and got it transplanted for his second wife Baijayanti Mala Sahu.
The accused servant, Naresh Chandra Gangwar, claims that in June 2015, he was taken to Sri Lanka on the pretext of help, where his kidney was removed in a hospital in Colombo. Naresh has also alleged that initially he remained silent due to pressure, but later he complained about the entire matter to the then Senior Superintendent of Police of Nainital.
At present, the political turmoil regarding the latest statement is intense and the pressure on BJP is continuously increasing. At the same time, Congress has intensified the attacks after his statement.
