There was a sudden stop on air services in Greece, a large number of passengers got stranded in the international airport, this is the reason?

Air services were suddenly affected in Greece, a country in South-Eastern Europe, on Sunday. Due to this, flight movement at many airports in the country was temporarily stopped. Greece’s government TV channel and Civil Aviation Authority have given this information. The reason behind this is due to technical glitch related to radio frequency. At present, the exact reason for this error has not been revealed.

Greece’s state broadcaster ERT said, ‘Arrivals and departures at airports across the country are suspended from 9 am local time. Due to this, a large number of passengers are stranded at Eleftherios Venizelos International Airport.

Many flights were diverted

According to ERT, many flights are being diverted towards neighboring countries. A spokesman for airport authorities in Israel said that Greece’s airspace would remain closed until 4 pm local time. Passengers fear delays in both arrival and departure.

Greece’s Civil Aviation Authority said, ‘Some flights are continuing through the Athens Flight Information Region (FIR), but restrictions have been imposed on airport operations as a safety measure.’

Takeoff and landing banned across the country

According to the information, after technical glitches came to light, takeoff and landing have been banned at airports across the country. This decision has been taken for security reasons. Apart from these, the international flights, which were only passing through the airspace of Greece, have been allowed on a limited basis.

Some incoming overflights were taken off

On behalf of Greece, the Civil Aviation Authority said that some overflights falling under the Athens Flight Information Region were being handled. At the same time, restrictions remained in place on other airport operations. At present the technical problem in radio frequency is being investigated. Until complete safety is ensured, caution will be exercised in flight services.
