On Tuesday (January 6, 2026), a situation of chaos was created at Mau railway station in Mau district of Uttar Pradesh, when information was received about a bomb in the Kashi Express (15018) train going from Gorakhpur to Lokmanya Tilak Terminal (Mumbai). As soon as the information was received, the security agencies were alerted and a situation of panic was created in the entire station premises. Giving priority to the safety of passengers, strict measures were immediately taken.
As soon as information about the bomb was received, the police force led by SP Ilamaran and Additional Superintendent of Police Anoop Kumar reached the spot. The joint team of Kotwal Anil Kumar Singh, GRP and RPF showed promptness and evacuated the train and the passengers were taken to a safe place. After this, an intensive investigation campaign was started with the help of the bomb squad team.
Panic among passengers due to news of bomb
According to the information, every bogie of train 15018 going from Gorakhpur to Lokmanya Tilak Terminal is being searched in detail. The platform and surrounding area have also been cordoned off and secured. This sudden action created an atmosphere of panic among the passengers, although the administration is continuously making announcements appealing to the people to remain calm and safe.
After completion of investigation, decision will be taken on departure of the train.
At present the security agencies are in alert mode and the decision to send the train further will be taken only after the investigation is completed. How much truth is there in the information about a bomb in the train can be known only after investigation, but on 30 November 2025, at Jhansi Railway Station, the fight over seats between passengers traveling in Hirakud Express escalated so much that one passenger accused three Muslim passengers of being terrorists.
