As the local body elections in Maharashtra approach, political rhetoric has intensified. Samajwadi Party State President Abu Azmi on Sunday (January 11) expressed strong objection to the recent statements of Congress State President Harsh Vardhan Sapkal and took a dig at the Congress by mentioning the defeat of Tipu Sultan.
In Bhiwandi, Abu Asim Azmi said, “Why did Tipu Sultan lose? There were many conspiracies in his army. Some people became informers and that is why he lost. Congress is destroying itself.”
He termed Harshvardhan Sapkal’s statement on Tipu Sultan as ‘political suicide’ of Congress. Azmi was clearly indicating that Congress was losing its credibility among the minority community by making controversial comments on historical personalities.
Abu Azmi gets furious at Nitesh Rane
Abu Azmi demanded the immediate removal of Cabinet Minister Nitish Rane from the Cabinet for his alleged derogatory statements against Muslims. He said, “When a person becomes an MLA, he takes an oath under the Constitution that everyone in the country has equal rights and he will work for everyone. Even after becoming a minister, he takes the oath again, but even after becoming a cabinet minister, Nitish Rane repeatedly speaks derogatorily about Muslims. If there was true justice, such a person should be removed from the ministry.”

Abu Azmi said, “He makes irresponsible statements whenever he wants. If any Muslim had said the same things, there would have been an uproar in the entire country. Muslims talk about Hindu-Muslim brotherhood, yet some people feel that they have been trained to make negative statements against Muslims by doing ‘research’ on a daily basis. They should speak responsibly and pay attention to their language.”
