Another case has been registered in the death of Greater Noida engineer Yuvraj Mehta. The police lodged an FIR against 5 people. A case was registered under Environment Protection and Water Pollution Prevention Act. A case was registered against builders Abhay Kumar, Manoj Kumar, Sanjay Kumar, Achal Vohra and Nirmal at Knowledge Park police station. A case was filed against Lotus Green Construction Private Limited and partners of Wish Town.
The accident happened on the night of 16 January
Yuvraj Mehta, who works in Gurugram, was returning home on the night of January 16, when his car fell into a deep pit filled with water near a construction site in Sector-150. He reportedly died after pleading for help for about two hours.
A builder in judicial custody
Let us tell you that a builder arrested in the case of engineer’s death was sent to judicial custody on Wednesday till January 27. Meanwhile, the SIT has intensified the investigation into the case and has interrogated Noida Authority officials facing allegations of negligence. Assistant government advocate Dharmendra Jayant said that Abhay Kumar, one of the accused builders and director of ‘MJ Viztown Planners’, was produced in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate located in Surajpur, where he was sent to jail in judicial custody till January 27.
Court reprimanded for negligence
Jayant said, “During the hearing, the court reprimanded the court for negligence in this case. Making a strong comment, the court directed the police that in the investigation it should also be clear as to whose negligence it is. If the drain is broken then who is responsible? Not only this, if the barricade is not installed then who is responsible for it? According to him, the court said that all this should be a part of the investigation, because when people were complaining about this for a few years, then why was no action taken at the appropriate time.
Forensic experts collected samples
Meanwhile, Assistant Police Commissioner (Greater Noida) Hemant Upadhyay said that efforts are on to arrest the second builder of real estate developer ‘Lotus Greens’ named in the FIR. He said forensic experts collected samples from the accident site on Wednesday as part of the investigation. The three-member SIT constituted by the Uttar Pradesh government spent several hours at the Noida Authority headquarters in Sector-6 and interrogated senior officials as well as junior-level employees, especially those associated with the traffic cell, officials said.
The administration also talked to the victim’s father
The SIT formed under the leadership of Additional Director General of Police (Meerut Zone) Bhanu Bhaskar had reached Noida on Tuesday. This team also includes the Divisional Commissioner of Meerut and the Chief Engineer of the Public Works Department. The team visited the accident site located in Sector-150 and also spoke to the victim’s father Raj Kumar Mehta. Since Wednesday morning, teams of forensic laboratory and other departments were seen taking measurements of the road and the adjacent drain at the incident site in Sector-150. The officials carefully inspected the entire area including the deep pit from where the car of deceased Yuvraj Mehta was taken out on Tuesday evening.
