Traffic restrictions will be in place in some parts of New Delhi on January 22 due to the rehearsal of the ‘Beating Retreat’ ceremony at Vijay Chowk. Delhi Traffic Police gave this information on Wednesday. As per traffic advisory, Vijay Chowk will remain closed for general traffic from 4 pm to 6:30 pm. Movement of vehicles will also be restricted on Raisina Road from the roundabout near Krishi Bhawan towards Vijay Chowk.
The advisory said that during the rehearsal, traffic will be restricted in the direction of Vijay Chowk beyond the roundabouts of Dara Shikoh Road, Krishna Menon Marg and Sunehri Masjid.

Heavy vehicles not allowed to enter
Gurugram and Delhi Police have jointly informed all goods vehicle drivers that from 5.00 pm on Thursday, 22 January to 1:30 pm on Friday, 23 January, medium and heavy goods vehicles (MGV and LGV) will not be allowed to enter Gurugram and Delhi. Similarly, the same rule will be applicable from 5.00 pm on 25th January till 1.30 pm on Republic Day, 26th January.
There will be changes in the route of heavy vehicles
Police also informed that the routes of heavy vehicles will be changed to ensure smooth traffic flow. Trucks coming from Jaipur on NH-48 will be diverted to KMP Expressway at Pachgaon.
The advisory said that heavy vehicles from Gurugram local area will be diverted through alternative routes at various places including Hero-Honda Chowk, Shankar Chowk, Mehrauli Border, Sohna, Pataudi and Farrukhnagar. There is no restriction on milk, vegetables, fruits, fire department, ambulance and airport passenger vehicles. Vehicles going towards other districts or states should use KMP Expressway from Panchgaon Chowk.
