Which party will be the mayor of BMC? Eknath Shinde’s first reaction after the lottery, ‘Hum Kursi…’

A day after the reservation for the post of Mayor in Mumbai Municipal Corporation was decided, the reaction of Deputy CM and Shiv Sena Chief Eknath Shinde came out. He did not give any clear answer on who will be the Mayor of Mumbai. He said that the mayor will be from Mahayuti. However, at the same time he also said that we are not together for power and chair. So now the question is whether Shiv Sena has given up its claim. This picture will become clear in the coming days.

Decision will be taken after CM returns – Sources

Let us tell you that Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis is currently in Davos and is about to return. According to sources, after his arrival, the decision on the post of Mayor will be taken in the meeting of Shiv Sena and BJP leaders. One thing that is clear is that this time only a woman will hold the post of Mayor. Many names including Harshita Narvekar, relative of Assembly Speaker Rahul Narvekar, are leading from the BJP quota.

BJP and Shiv Sena have more councilors than majority

BJP’s claim is also considered strong because it has become the largest party in BMC. BJP contested the elections in alliance with Shiv Sena and captured 89 out of 227 seats. Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena could win only 29 seats. The figure of both is 118 and to form the government in BMC, the support of 114 councilors is needed. In such a situation, BJP and Shiv Sena have more than majority.

Let us tell you that the results of Maharashtra Municipal Corporation elections were declared on 16 January. On January 22, reservation for mayor posts was announced through lottery. Till now, no party has announced candidates for the post of Mayor in any municipal corporation. But all the political parties are busy solving equations.
