Flight Lieutenant Akshita Dhankhar belongs to Kasni village of Jhajjar district of Haryana. Born in an ordinary family, Akshita had the dream of serving the country in her mind since childhood. When he saw his father participating in the programs related to the Republic Day Parade, he too had a desire to do something for the country by wearing uniform. Watching the parade on TV in his childhood was not just a celebration for him, but a dream, which became a goal with time.
Talking about education, after completing her primary studies, Akshita took admission in Shri Guru Tej Bahadur Khalsa College of Delhi University. During his college days, along with his studies, he chose National Cadet Corps i.e. NCC. NCC changed both his thinking and direction. Here he understood the real meaning of discipline, leadership and responsibility. He made himself mentally and physically strong during parades, camps and training.
NCC created a strong base
With hard work, Akshita achieved the post of Cadet Sergeant Major in NCC. This position is not easy, but his dedication and hard work took him here. His unit still remembers him by the name of Ex-CSM. She was an example for fellow cadets. The NCC training taught him to remain calm in difficult situations, work with a team and lead, which later came in handy in the Air Force.
Selection in Indian Air Force
To realize her dream, Akshita prepared for the Air Force Common Admission Test i.e. AFCAT. Hard work paid off and he passed this exam. In June 2023, he was commissioned as a flying officer in the Indian Air Force. This moment was full of pride for him and his family. In view of his hard work, discipline and honesty towards work during his service, he was soon promoted to the rank of Flight Lieutenant.
