India will play its first match in the T20 World Cup 2026 against USA today. This match will be played in the historic Wankhede Stadium of Mumbai. According to Indian time, this match will start at 7 pm. India is entering this tournament as the defending champion. Before the start of the match, captain Suryakumar Yadav gave Gurumantra to Team India.
Actually, BCCI has shared a video on social media, in which Suryakumar Yadav expressed his views in front of everyone. He told how he feels on captaining Team India in the World Cup and that he will be playing his first match of the World Cup at his home ground i.e. Wankhede Stadium. Recently Suryakumar had said that he feels better being called a leader than captain. It will be interesting to see whether he is able to take Team India to the trophy under his leadership in the World Cup or not.

Suryakumar Yadav said before Team India’s first match in T20 World Cup 2026, “Don’t panic in good times and don’t go crazy in good times.”
Suryakumar Yadav said that there is some nervousness about leading the Indian team in the T20 World Cup. But he showed confidence in his fellow players in Team India and said that their presence will reduce the pressure on them.

Surya’s captaincy record is excellent
Under the captaincy of Suryakumar Yadav, India’s T20 team has shown excellent performance in the last two years. Under his captaincy, Team India has played 43 T20 matches so far, out of which the team has won 32 times and lost only 7 times. Whereas under his captaincy, 2 matches of the team were tied and 2 matches could not get any result. Suryakumar’s winning percentage as captain is 80.48.
