Now, considering the numerical strength of the party in the 165-member municipal body, Manjusha Nagpure will take over as mayor. BJP has won 119 out of 165 wards.

Who is Manjusha Nagpure?

46-year-old Manjusha Nagpure was declared by the Bharatiya Janata Party as its candidate for the post of Mayor. She is a postgraduate in Business Management and has deep connections with Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). The party gave him preference over other contenders – four-time councilor Varsha Tapkir and three-time councilor Mansi Deshpande. According to the information, Nagpur is counted among the most educated councilors of Pune Municipal Corporation.

Journey from studies to politics

Manjusha Nagpure was born in 1979. He graduated from Savitribai Phule Pune University in 1999 and obtained an MBA degree from ICFAI University in 2021. Before joining politics, he worked in an IT firm, but later left the job to contest municipal elections. She was first elected councilor from Anandnagar area of ​​Sinhgadh Road in 2012 and since then has won the elections three times consecutively. Her husband Deepak Nagpure is considered a BJP official and right-wing leader. The couple has a joint business and Nagpur has declared assets worth Rs 3.22 crore. She is the mother of two children.

Which party gets how many seats in Pune Municipal Corporation?

There are total 165 seats in Pune Municipal Corporation. In this, BJP won 119 out of 165 seats, while Ajit Pawar faction’s NCP and Sharad Pawar-led NCP (SP) together won 30 seats. Congress won 15 seats, while its ally Shiv Sena (UBT) got only one seat.
